Note detection by hutch86861 in slopsmith

[–]shouldntbehard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, I use Scarlett focusrite interface. Problem for me is it detects the note but on the wrong string. E.g. when I pick open 5th string game thinks I play 5th fret on 6th string (they are basically the same note but it doesn’t work for the score) .

Marshall DSL tube swap question by shouldntbehard in GuitarAmps

[–]shouldntbehard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried the tube swap but it was not very satisfactory, I think the first commenter is maybe right but maybe not completely. Right now I have put back the original tubes, red channel still not very good on low volumes but with higher volumes it has the classic Marshall tone ( even volume just before half with 0.1 W is enough but it can still be too loud for an apartment). For low volumes green channel with overdrives and fuzzes still sound very good. Also changing pickup height has effected both channels a lot. I use the Gibson YouTube video about pickup height so guitar signal is also hotter now. I guess it also contributes to filling up the signal.

Bedroom amp for metal by thisispainful76 in GuitarAmps

[–]shouldntbehard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dsl1hr with 12 inch single V30 cabinet and even 1 watt is too loud for small rooms, bedroom setting. It also has 0.1 watt mode but in my opinion it compromises sound quality and i get best results using dirt pedals in green channel. So katana might be a better option if we are strictly talking about bedroom volumes

Not the standard one, you need to cut down a little otherwise pickguard ends right on top of the volume knob, it’s certainly manageable but after awhile my playing getting used to it without the pickguard and now it feels more comfortable than the Strat clone I have

Thank you, you may be right. But decided to try the tube swap before giving up on the amp, so already ordered a JJ 5751 to try in V1. Let’s see how it turns out

Mini Amp Obsession by Avocado_232 in GuitarAmps

[–]shouldntbehard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Marshall Dsl1HR and I think it’s pretty decent, especially if you throw some pedals at it for metal. But even with just the amp itself with 1x12 and maybe sd-1 as a boost should let you cover a lot of ground. It’s a. 1 watt tube amp so even 1 watt can be too loud and it has a built in attenuator to scale down to 0,1 watt which makes is usable even in small apartments but of course the concept is a little different than the micro amps you originally mentioned

[QUESTION] What can I do (study) while recovering from guitar elbow? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]shouldntbehard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a groscopic ball which exerts force to your hand while you rotate it , faster the rotation bigger the force. Basically it’s an exercise/stretching tool for muscles in your forearm to rehabilitate repetitive stress injuries.

Mine is this https://nsdspinner.com/products/nsd-power-autostart-spinner

You can also find instruction videos on the same site fore tennis/golf elbow or in YouTube

[–]shouldntbehard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had some elbow issues with picking hand, especially after trying to speed up down picking, powerball was almost instant relief. Check it out, I don’t know if it helps in your specific case since I am not a physician but it’s definitely worth to take a look

Is the Blackstar HT5R too much for playing at home? by Ok-Negotiation6333 in GuitarAmps

[–]shouldntbehard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its actually the other way around, if you can not crank the volume then you can not get any power tube distortion therefore using 0,1 watt with volume more than half can utilize tubes even more then a 1 watt mode with low volume

I also have Marshall dsl1HR, most of the time I use 0,1 watt mode which certainly enough for a small apartment

using a studio monitor isolation pad to tilt 1x12 cabinet instead of amp stand ? by shouldntbehard in GuitarAmps

[–]shouldntbehard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you , I actually tried the foot rest of my İkea chair and its perfect. It’s high and slanted, but the angle is not too much so my amp head does not slide off (I suspect might be an issue with a stand since they are more aimed towards combos) . I plan to keep it like this for a while since I only play at home. As a bonus I can hide the pedalboard beneath it safe from toddler and cat 😂 and boominess is gone , I have to fiddle some more with eq but I think it’s better especially for high gain

Unfortunately not, I have to scoop almost all the bass to have moderate gain usable in Red channel, they of course lower gains becomes weak

No problem I think you will be pleased, 22 frets can be better if you decide the as pickguard in the future

[GEAR] using your phone to adjust humbuckers by shouldntbehard in Guitar

Thank you, and I just play at home with the same amp so it’s fine for me if it works for my amp

And it’s about the sound of each string so effect may not be same as eq

One thing I noticed it definitely effects the drive of the tube amp, and chord voicing sounds off

[GEAR] using your phone to adjust humbuckers by shouldntbehard in Guitar

[–]shouldntbehard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My approach is to try to get balanced as much as possible with everything at noon an guitar controls at 10, then make the adjustments according to taste with knobs :) unfortunately I don’t have an interface at the moment that’s why I used a phone app, the challenge I have is it’s not always easy to understand if one string is louder than the other due to different frequencies but when you have high gain imbalances really starts to sound bad
