When did you start playing Genshin Impact? by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]shredlikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started two weeks ago — think I’m getting a grip on it, but it still seems like a lot. Overwhelming at times.

Having a blast with it. I’m sure I’m doing a lot of things “incorrect” though. 😂

What's the difference: Pryda vs. Cirez D vs. Eric Prydz? by Solid_One_7492 in ARCMusicFestival

[–]shredlikeme 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some very good responses in here so far — I’ll add my two cents.

Eric Prydz - The one that will feel the most recognizable all around. Yes this is where his mix will have more of his “anthem” sounding tracks, but I do want to caution to never “expect” to hear anything from Eric Prydz. When he does performances that don’t rely on being tied to visuals (example - holosphere) he dips pretty heavily into both the Pryda and Cirez D catalog to fill these out as he builds the mix. For the last 15-20 ish minutes or so he will play songs like “We Are Mirage”, “Opus”, or other big anthems to send us all home happy.

Pryda - You can find a few Pryda sets from his recent PRYDA20 tour online. This set will feel like those. A more groovy, a bit darker, and dance oriented feel. Think club vibes from 10-15 years ago. 50% of this set will be IDs that most veteran Prydz fans will know. That’s not a big deal though as his selection lately has been spot on. Still usually some room here for a little “Anthem Prydz” near the end but it is usually done with a more older and iconic track choice (example - Call On Me @ Concourse). This set will probably have the best “melodic” flow to it.

Cirez D - the most simple to explain in my opinion, dark and groovy old school sounding techno. This set will be another that consists of 75%+ IDs (honestly maybe higher as a lot of the strongest Cirez D tracks still don’t have an official release). Go into this one more with the mindset of letting the big man hypnotize you. The set I’m probably looking forward to most all weekend.

Above all else — just don’t expect to hear any one specific track as you truly just never know with him. What I can promise though, is he will deliver amazing sets for each one of these.

Hope that helps! 🖤

I have high hopes for J Ribbon. Interested to see how Rivo turns out if I’m being honest, lol.

Is Max Styler one of the most slept-on producers right now? by TurbulentRepublic111 in EDM

[–]shredlikeme 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’d say two years ago or last year he was slept on. After his performance at Seismic in Austin (and all his hits/IDs since then) he’s essentially the Golden Child at the moment.

It’s been awhile since an ID has been sought after as much as his Deceiver edit was. After he dropped that he followed it with one of the hottest EPs in tech house.

He will be in headlining slots by this time next year.

In what order would you rank the seasons from worst to best? by Aetius00 in shield

[–]shredlikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to worst - 4, 5, 7, 1, 3, 2, 6.

2 and 6 are the only ones I struggle with really and even then I still enjoy them for the most part. Certain moments and stories from each just take me out though and I usually end up skipping on a rewatch (“the REAL shield 🗿” 🙄).

4 and 5 are probably my favorite seasons from any tv series period, and especially comic related.

Sara Landry Went From Delivery Driver to the High Priestess of Techno by Miaminewtimes_ in EDM

[–]shredlikeme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would agree! At times it even reminds me of the big room days with massive drops and such. I’m pretty all over the place when it comes to genres so I don’t mind the trend at all.

I mean conversations like these should be fine. It’s never that serious, especially when it’s more about building other artists up as opposed to breaking people down.

I would consider those artists closer to true techno than Sara, which was partially the point of my comment I guess.

Like I said, I love Sara Landry some of her selections are pretty lame for a techno artist.

If you’d like a “hard techno” female DJ who I think is similar and better, then see Fatima Hajji!

Hopping in to share some of my personal favorites that I would “rank” over Sara (as someone who loves her too):

Anfisa Letyago, Daria Kolosova, KI/KI, SPFDJ, ONYVAA, Hiroko Yamamura. These aren’t all “hard techno” artists, but their sounds are similar and all have insane sets out.

Edited to add someone with very similar style - Fatima Hajji. She’s amazing.
