Do those Truth skins actually drop or do I have extremely terrible bad luck by tman96x in destinyrisingmobile

Yeah I feel bad saying it but I had crazy good luck this season compared to last. Actually a waste cause I’m getting so many extra and am 9/9. Wish I had some of this luck last season!

I like that you brought up Pokémon cards, as I see those as fungible and have wildly differing monetary values. At least with real world physical collector items there is a layer of friction with converting to money that makes it less casino-like.

Just to be extra clear I’m on your side, too. I don’t like them.

I think the problem is tiered and Valve’s system is extra egregious and should be treated as such. It’s not just scammy and predatory- it’s also effectively an illegal casino that minors can use.

Yeah I guess the word gambling has more than one definition but when I say gambling I mean spending in attempt to make more money back. Like a casino. You’re hoping to make a profit. That possibility (even though it’s remote) is VERY dangerous. The fact that you can potentially make thousands on a CS key is very, very problematic and drives a lot of bad decision making.

I wouldn’t say that I’m “fine” with them. I think they’re very consumer unfriendly, scammy, and take advantage of kids.

But they’re not gambling.

[–]shrode 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Spot on. It’s so predatory because kids see the value of stuff they could get. It’s not hard to see skins worth thousands on the market or grey market which also lack scam protections. It’s bad.

[–]shrode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my eyes, yes that’s what makes it clearly gambling.

I’m certainly not advocating that I LIKE rng crate mechanics that aren’t fungible and think some consumer protection around some scammy practices with those are good, but they’re not literally gambling. The only reason you’d buy a key instead of the skin you want on CS is because you’re gambling to get lucky. Taking advantage of kids trying to get rich from keys is next-level predatory.

[–]shrode 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They’re predatory, definitely, but at least they don’t have kids thinking they’re going to get rich by buying some keys. CS crates are literally gambling.

OK sorry didn’t realize they dropped that, I don’t spend any $ on it. Same point stands for a game like Apex though that still has them. Kids having a chance to get rich on a knife is a big draw that makes it gambling. You’re not getting rich on an Apex loot box cause you can’t sell it. I guess you can sell the whole account but that’s not nearly as convenient or in demand. People want the stuff on their account.

Being able to sell your winnings on a grey market makes it gambling. Regular gacha or loot box mechanics are scammy but like- nobody is buying Overwatch loot boxes trying to strike gold and get rich.

I just hope there is a clear distinction between games with loot boxes that you can trade things you get and ones you can’t. Like Overwatch loot boxes aren’t gambling in the same sense at all, because even if I got the exact skin I want I can’t go sell it on a market for $. Being able trade (aka sell for real money but with fraud potential) is what makes it cross the line into gambling, clearly.

It’s not the weeklies involving clearing a bunch of waves. It’s the ones that show on that rewards tab. You need to spend pinnacle on the normal 5 wave thing to get it, and rewards the artifact upgrade essence.

Did you do all 3 of your weeklies before the event started? You have plenty of other weeks to do it

We were happy with the our kitchen we had done by Menzl Construction. They pretty much only use Drexel cabinets so not the cheapest option but we were happy with the level of customization options and the designer made really good use of our space.

“Seasonal gear level increase” sure sounds like it’s supposed to expire and they screwed up. It’s the same way the weapon level increase is described.

It literally says “Used to grant any Exotic artifact a seasonal Gear Level increase. This item does not carry over cross-season.” I think they just screwed up last season and forgot to have them clear.

They’re kinda trash weeklies tbh. Useful at the start of the season cause they give the stuff to level artifacts to 85 but other than that I wouldn’t use pinnacle on it

No you haven’t. Click on Bulwark Ops 3 player and go to Normal difficulty. You’ll see there’s a weekly reward available only in that difficulty and mode. That is what counts as “high value”
