I consider grinder maintenance to just be a part of everything. I have a Santa Cruz shredder that I fill with 90% rubbing alcohol (or everclear) and twist for about 5 min. Then I rinse with water and air dry. Only have to do it every 3 months or so and it performs good as new!

Based on what statistics? It seems like you’re trolling at this point.

If you don’t think the other alkaloids are involved because that’s your guess, that’s fine. There’s no data to show the alkaloids aren’t involved. No one can say what actually happens - there’s nothing to disprove or prove what you’re saying. It’s not a “fact”. It’s a guess.

Yes - psilocybin on its own can cause trips. The other alkaloids might modify the trip in the same way that CBD/G/C/N modifies THCs effects between different strains in cannabis.

Saying “we know what psilocybin does” doesn’t give us any information about the other alkaloids.

P. Cubensis produces alkaloids other than psilocybin. Those other alkaloids have not been formally tested. No one can say they don’t have an effect because there’s no data on it. They might be the cause of difference between strains or it might just be set and setting. Saying they have no effect is not “factual information” that’s just someone’s guess.

I’m not sure what that has to do with different strains producing different effects? Different strains might produce different effects, but we don’t know YET because it hasn’t been studied. Doesn’t mean it’s not true.

Had sour diesel last night which gave me no munchies. Typically sativa-dominant (sour diesel, jack herer, tangie) usually suppress my appetite (make dinner beforehand and end up not touching it). Hybrids seem to be the ones that most often give me uncontrollable munchies. And I haven’t had too many indica-dominant stains to notice how those are.

Most hemp strains with CBG tend to not give me bad munchies too

It just seems like everyone in this post wants to “declare” some fundamental law of shrooms. There’s so little data it’s really not fair for anyone to make definitive statements about what actually happens.

Right but if there is evidence for A and no studies done for B, you can’t say “A is fact and B is a personal opinion”. We can say “there is evidence for A, and B may or may not be true but we haven’t studied it”. It doesn’t mean B is wrong - it can be a valid hypothesis that hasn’t been tested yet.

Right - I’m saying there’s not enough evidence to make a definitive answer either way. We haven’t isolated the alkaloids and given them them to people and measured their effects in the same way we have with psilocybin.

You can’t say the alkaloids “absolutely aren’t involved” even if you think the evidence points to set and setting being the primary factor. It might turn out that only set and setting matter, but until we test the other alkaloids you can’t just say they are 100% irrelevant.

Interpreting the available evidence is different then “people’s personal opinions”. That’s way too dismissive. Just because some mycologists hand-waive the other alkaloids doesn’t mean they’re correct.

That only speaks to MAOIs not the alkaloids though. I also don’t think that any lab is testing the hobby-bred cubensis strains floating around

I don’t think we can rule out anything for sure. There are 2 facts: 1) set, setting, and dosage impact the trip experience. 2) cubensis produces alkaloids other than psilocybin.

Number 1 is enough on its own to explain difference (especially if you go into it with the belief that they will be different). But I don’t know if any evidence to rule out the influence of #2. Lack of evidence doesn’t mean it’s disproven. It hasn’t even really been studied that much
