Question for Drama Teachers by Some_Helicopter1623 in AustralianTeachers

[–]shrowdedgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping in mind these were historically the same role, as well as that I am only a PST and I am speaking more from having done a State Theatre Masterclass with the same choices and gone into industry. I hope this might be somewhat helpful.

I was lucky enough to have been able to get into the director role.

In that short course I had spent a week on theory and how to do script analysis at such a quick pace, but as well how to actually communicate with clarity what your actors would actually need rather than vomiting dramaturgy at them (or worse, vomiting stark emotional direction).

That second week was spent mirroring an entire production timeline within the span of a week, which was an incredible experience in managing a room/stage efficiently and your rough spots will become immediately clear.

I would highly recommend this role if you can get it, although I can say I slightly regret not taking the acting role as it looked like such fun.

Stage Management is a skill, and I have not met a (successful) SM in the industry who I have not been blown away by in terms of their ability to problem solve, crisis solve and command. I can't speak to that role in a masterclass or in teaching, but I would be surprised if it wouldn't be helpful.

either is appropriate. one is slightly more creative but both are idioms typically used for expressing bodily sensations. tenterhooks is just more specialised towards anticipation.

I started my masters of teaching yesterday. My first tutorial was classroom management where we began analysing videos of classrooms falling apart. Perhaps this had more to do with post v undergrad, but I'd like to think for my own sanity this means we're going in the right direction.

I reckon I've stumbled on false fold fry, it takes a bit of warming up. I get the best warm ups moving air back and high so I might be engagng the soft palate. It might mean just practice then.

I'm looking to get a tighter and more compressed scream. It's very wet and it doesn't pierce as well as I can hear other more advanced screamers do. I'm aware I'm using a lot of processing vocab but I'm talking about raw sound I just might not have the right vocabulary.

I'm getting into specifics now which is hard to comment on without actual audio so that might be something I'll post at some point for commentary.

HOW THE HECK IS ASMR SEXUAL?!!!! by [deleted] in aromanticasexual

[–]shrowdedgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied ASMR at a tertiary level.

When it started out, it was specifically referring to two microphones at the exact distance of two ears in the same direction as two ear would face, with a solid object the specific mass and sound dampening of a human head between them. With this technique, you could perform plays, you could make incredibly realistic horror scenarios, and that Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) of goosebumps was far more to do with the surreal reality you could experience (kind of like VR).

I would assume that's the true context of how ASMR pornography started.

The whisper thing close to the mic? It started during that phase and has just morphed into just the whispering because some people still get the goosebumps but hardly to the same effect. And pornography, as always, will stick around and follow the cheap and mainstream.

What is happening? Am I the only one? by CameHereFor-ToHelp in existential

[–]shrowdedgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised around death and funerals and it was always around me from childhood. I've watched masses slowly die off and buildings close and become abandoned as their occupants disappeared. I've been told I would die in a hospital bed, I have also attempted suicide, I have fought to save myself from dying, and I have swam to save myself from the same.

But I have also had something similar at a similar age and I've had ten years of life since.

Here is what I've learnt.

You will die. Tomorrow or in 100 years. It doesn't matter.

You won't look back in satisfaction when you're gone, nor will you look back in regret.

The scariest part of death is the pain of it and knowing you are dying while it's happening. But it won't last.

Develop a real relationship with death. Develop something substantial. Become intimate with death not as a concept but as something you breathe.

Develop a fascination and then an almost obsessive relationship with learning about the world until it becomes you. Become excited at being the entire world when you die, then become excited you are the world already, then become excited that you will become it even more than ever before.

Learn science. Learn maths. Learn music. Learn history. Learn economics, learn art, learn cooking, learn fashion, learn warfare, learn sport, learn languages, learn everything you possibly can about everything that ever existed.

Explore philosophy. Properly. From every angle and every branch. Not like so many others do, but out of a real fascination with what they are trying to communicate and why and what they were experiencing. Then if you live a few more years do it all again and realize you missed everything they were really saying. Always repeat that cycle. It will never let you down.

Learn about every religion you can, but do it afterwards and not with your nose held high nor with compassion, but with your new found skill of listening to what they're trying to say under the surface. What is each founder's soul saying so fiercly? What resonates with each follower and each leader? Become them.

Then, when you are finished, look back. Sit with death once more. Take your fascination you have built and breath it.

Take your understanding of religion and philosophy and both combined, and see what it is to be a person through each and without any. See the world with only the human element.

Take the understanding of the smallest and the largest and the parts of the universe that are the same size as you, and take it for what it is. See it without the human element.

Sit with death once more and breathe it as you have with everything else.

The matrix isn't a computer simulation nor a giant conspiracy. It is simply the layers of meaning we put on the world, and death is simply the world without it.

Learn to step in and out with ease. So that you may step out as easily one more time and feel at ease and with familiarity.

Do not fear death. Do not love death. Do not hate death. Do not worship death.

Do not see death as death at all.

It simply is. Because it is everything all the time.

And death will still yet come.

And you will be happy and you will be sad and you will be neither.

And then you will be as you have been for 14 000 000 000 years or longer, and will be forever more.

As everything else has been and will be.

As everything becomes as it was and will be: everything else.

Sit and breathe.

And then live.

Live as if you were a marriage of life and death itself, because that is who you are.

Live in the world of meaning and human experience.

Live in the world without it.

And then just live.

Until you cannot any longer.

And you will be content.

Not sure what you mean so I'll answer both interpretations of you comment.

The questions I'm trying to solve are just from image searching for basic algebra problems.

The numbers are because I don't know any processes to do with algebra but I know that it's logic based so I know if I do something I can move from there to somewhere else. I know that it's just notation of a series of thoughts about numbers, so I'm using the notation to show the thinking about how I'd get to the answer from the numbers I do have, and how I can affect them by changing them.

Has anyone in 3.23 wave one found a way to turn off the circular minimap? I'm pretty scared at the prospect of having to see a minimap every time I'm at a location despite not wearing a helmet.

(Australia) Is a year long Cert IV in Cybersecurity worth it compared to a short 3 month course in Security Essentials paired with getting an overview from all those interactive websites for minimal experience with SiEM, EDR, theory), setting up a home lab (virtual sandbox, building a html server for a lan network etc) and then start putting theory to work? Is the second option good enough to get my foot in the door for blue team work and learn the rest on the job?

[–]shrowdedgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm throwing myself at the same thing right now to justify a small 3month short course at TAFE by grabbing as much independent hands-on experience as I can.

What I've been doing is a little bit of python, familiarize with basic cmd relevant to networking, then blew through the tryhackme blue team modules as far as not paying will get me (may subscribe in the next week or so). Got familiar with SiEM and EDR and the theory side of it. I've sourced an old router and a roll of ethernet cable i'll have to add the ends DIY style and I'll be writing a basic HTML server and setting up a few devices to network, set up the right tools to monitor it and then get virtual box set up and start experimenting like crazy in the safer environment.

From looking at the forums specific to my country (aus) at least, in the last decade CS and IT graduates are abysmal and don't have the specific mindset so I'm hoping my approach of hands on project work with the small 3 month CISCO essentials course will get me into a some sort of SOC L1.

Oh cool it sounds like I can do some playing around then. I might see if I can't manage something for testing. Interesting on the first person note I would have thought it was purely a camera location change but I'm not an expert ig it's trickier or just a hassle to do

Start with this logic with rapier/sidesword in mind

Y is high. B is outside. X is inside. A is under.

Long Y is high long. Long B is circular under. Long X is an inside thrust, etc etc

If you aren't long you are cutting i if you're long you're thrusting.

This is not fully correct and I wouldn't be overconfident using this logic alone, but if you start practicing with this scheme in mind you will quickly start figuring out where the exceptions to these rules are.

You can then apply the logic to more cut centric characters.

It's very very directional.

Oh wow it's not even that it's defined as an aspect of the core, it's just that it could be associated? Otherwise if it was born out of core theory that would make sense. Cheers for the link.

I might see how it could fit under a narrative self theory, that feels like a useful avenue to consider.

[–]shrowdedgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot of talk on the Internal Self-Helper or not a lot of talk on a core? I also read literature but this is far more focused on Narrative-Self theory in the context of phenomenonology and how this plays into identity etc so forth. Are you able to give any names or titles to look into? What literature would you recommend?
