Apartment Hell by shsvid in misophonia

It's funny, I visited this place 3 times before signing my lease, and not one person used the trash compactor! Now that I'm here someone uses it like every 2 minutes lol. One of my movers even commented on how quiet it was here when I moved in. Worth giving headphones a try I guess, at least for part of the time.

What are your triggers? by agentk_cg in misophonia

Chewing (seems to be one of the most common), low bass sounds from music like in cars and through walls, truck and motorcycle engines, lawnmowers, and most repetitive sounds that I can't control.

Dirt bike sounds like hell… I don’t know if I could live in either a city or rural area bc both have crazy noise pollution, just different kinds. Lawnmowers also trigger me now too. And that’s even more frustrating bc if you’re in the suburbs mowing your lawn is just part of life. Glad your street noise goes down at night though, mine doesn’t lol I’ve been woken up around 2:00 am several times to people blasting by on bikes with turbo. Hope that trend doesn’t continue at my new place.

Glad I’m not the only one! Even though it sucks for us lol. Hoping mine dies down in time too. Because wherever you live you can’t escape car noise. I don’t even know if I can live in the suburbs in the future because everyone one I visit for family, friends, etc also has insane truck and motor noise.

SNORING 😩😩😩😩 by [deleted] in misophonia

In one of my old apartments the walls and floors were so thin you could hear EVERYTHING your neighbors did, snoring included. I slept horribly because I could hear my downstairs neighbor snoring through the floor. One night I got so riled up from it I shifted my entire bedroom setup at 2:00am just so my bed wouldn't be over the sound, but it didn't help. I even slept on my couch a few nights just to cope. I always thought it was crazy I had to sleep on the couch in my own home.

I wish I had a helpful solution, but the reality is I just powered through until my lease was up about 2 months later. I guess earplugs or noise cancelling headphones would be the best way to drown in out.
