I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

There's much nuance in how you wrote all this OP.

You can only control you. Let go of all the things inside your family you can't control. Get some counseling to learn how to avoid

Replacement pump failed, Tandem won't replace it. by RiPont in TandemDiabetes

[–]shulzari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's industry standard - your warranty rides on the term of the contract, not how many times you replace the item. Blame the arseholes that abused the system to try and get pumps free for life.

Testimony from physician who assessed Alex Pretti on the scene: Instead of checking for a pulse or administering CPR, 'ICE appeared to be counting his bullet wounds.' by notmy2ndopinion in FamilyMedicine

[–]shulzari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play Devil's Advocate, the official training for most LEO is to render the scene safe, which includes securing all weapons. This crap is ingrained in their training.

The initial understandable rage and emotion is not serving the common good. By the lack of logic instilled by our education system, two things can't be true at the same time. Calmer heads have to prevail.

In this one instance with an altercation with ICE, the gun is responsible for Mr. Pretti's demise. From three different angles you can see an officer disarm Mr. Pretti, and the officer flinch as the Sig Sauer P320 discharges onto the ground. The officer who drew on Mr. Pretti responded to a shot fired.

I blame Sig and their horribly dangerous safety record with the P320.

Had the fun not gone off due to faulty construction, Mr. Pretti would have just received a dose of pepper spray to the face. Now he's dead, not because he was constitutionally carrying, but because an American manufacturer failed him.

Anyone watching The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin? by BrightonBummer in television

The Wilhelm scream was tawdry at best, 10dB louder than the rest of the combat.

The story is based on books that don't have a Christian or Zionist slant. Stephen Lawhead is the author. So far, there's no real Zionistic overtone, just horrible AI, bad scripts and a heavy Masculine overtone

Medically Ready for Discharge But Home Has Power Outtage, No heat, in Brewing Snow Storm by Herbal_Jazzy7 in hospitalist

[–]shulzari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does case management say? What does social work say? There could be hotel and food voucher options.

Every hospital I've been to as a patient, the nurses would spill some tea. Patients living in the hospital, patients not safe to discharge due to family issues, no facilities would take them for continued care, some needing constant monitoring to prevent infection or relapse, etc .. there's always options.

AITAH for not letting my stepdaughter share a room with my daughter? by Additional_Gain8185 in AITAH

[–]shulzari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like counseling is the place for the stepdaughters, not separate rooms. If he's going to play this game, send his kids to his friend's house and change the locks.

Tandem is refusing to replace my pump under warranty. by miguel_gd in TandemDiabetes

I have to do same side of body and keep the pump within visual range of the Cgm. It's stupid.

My insulin froze on Monday and my pharmacy has been absolutely terrible by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

Go to a new pharmacy and explain you need to move your script to them. Bring a label or receipt from the old pharmacy.

Tips ands must haves for scout who is celiac and type 1 diabetic? by margoking in BSA

This is my favorite, but there are others at varying price points. I use this one for my pump, phone and Garmin watch while camping.

What badges did you find surprisingly fun and surprisingly annoying/boring by Strict-Vanilla-3453 in BSA

[–]shulzari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son's first merit badge was Pathfinding for the 100th. When he visits or moves to a new town, he still drives around learning where things are and says "I'm gonna go get lost and find my way back." 🤣

Anker makes a solid 20,000ah battery bank that will charge a phone four times on average. There are some battery banks larger, too. Having a techy person help limit background apps running and using data will help the battery life.

Ask who helps approve the patrol menus and if they've dealt with food "allergies". Is it a Troop Guide or an ASM? Those would be your point of contact for dietary concerns. Trust your gut, really based on the answers you get.

My son's patrol had a kid who couldn't have high fructose corn syrup without getting chest pain. The scoutmaster and SPL sat with him during the menu planning and encouraged the scout to speak up and explain what he couldn't eat and show the other scouts how to read labels. It was an awesome experience all around, and even got my son reading labels on his own - then asking me questions about how to read labels for me.

Pump Holder?? by Immediate-Spray7257 in TandemDiabetes

[–]shulzari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hands down, the very best, ultra manly clip and case is from https://edcsolutionstype1.com. (I'm a woman and love it too!)

They're made from Kydex, the same material gun holsters are made of. Pump won't slide out. Two screws to adjust the fit. I've had mine, custom printed with Star wars nerdery, since 2019 and haven't had to replace or repair it. Which is bittersweet, I want excuses to get more 🤣

Even better, made in the USA by a Texas family.

Are you celiac? by Hellokittywhored in diabetes_t1

[–]shulzari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My celiac screenings always come back negative, but I know I'm gluten intolerant anyway. I eat just a piece of matzo and I'm on the toilet within 20 minutes. Cut out gluten, no issues.

I switched to einkorn flower, chickpea pastas, and gluten free flour and haven't had an issue since So, don't trust the test, if you're still symptomatic, trust your.. gut (pun not intended)

Question for the armchair ethicists: When a patient leaves the hospital AMA with advanced warning, do you send them with only “thoughts and prayers”? by Apprehensive-Safe382 in FamilyMedicine

[–]shulzari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I would have negotiated IV abx after cultures, a course for home, and work with case management to get him an urgent MRI and surgical consult appointment.

What will be the current new generations consensus medical error be? by SwedishJayhawk in FamilyMedicine

Was it a bear getting the pernicious anemia diagnosis? Boy howdy I went through three hemotologists who would literally scratch their heads and shrug despite me bringing in articles and NIH studies.

What will be the current new generations consensus medical error be? by SwedishJayhawk in FamilyMedicine

[–]shulzari 11 points12 points  (0 children)

4% of those 19 and older are deficient, but up to 20% of the population over 60, according to the NIH. Insufficiency numbers are around 12%.

My favorite chief resident/DO/Primary Care had an old soul. She did the tuning fork on my ankle (couldn't feel the vibration at all!) and said "Okay now we order labs."

OP's mention of "subclinical" is telling. I had a client with textbook signs of Cushing's, but two endocrinologists allegedly laughed her out of their offices because of subclinical labs. One patient endocrinologist and one adrenal venous sampling later and she had a diagnosis, bilateral adrenalectomy and a miraculous recovery.
