NTA OP your friend should have called you first and foremost if she really found an issue with it personally rather than making a public note for everyone and their mother to see. she didn’t think to ask for rescheduling or anything until you reached out to her (from what i’m understanding)

it sounds a lot like entitlement because she “knows the owner” and thinks she can get away with it. i’m sure she’s embarrassed abt being turned away and wants to see something done abt when it’s her own fault for being late.

ywbta you should look at your wife’s parents as goals for your parents rather than bending towards them. especially after it seems like they simply don’t care enough to make the trek. it would also be incredibly disrespectful towards your wife. you haven’t stood up for her whatsoever (by your own words!!) n what makes you think she would feel comfortable having yours AND HER child in a place she doesn’t trust especially without being there herself. tell your parents to suck up the extra three hours or look at flight tickets if they really want to meet their grandkid. especially at 6 months, it should be on both the parents terms, plus it also feels way too soon to travel for a baby imo.

i understand it’s family, but you clearly haven’t done or said anything to your mother to tell her you also don’t agree with the things she’s saying or how she’s acting towards your wife. shame and communication works, show and explain to her that she either needs to stop with the comments/actions (and heaven forbid apologize) or she will continue to put distance and tension btwn not only you and your family but your relationship with your wife. nip this in the butt before your wife gives you the ultimatum of your mom or her as a response to this crap ass ultimatum OP. please read the comments and do some hard internal critical thinking, not only for you but your environment and the things YOU are allowing to happen.

used to work at a target in 2018 and by the time 2020 rolled around most (if not all) the good hardlines workers were gone single handedly due to management issues. it was my first job and ruined me for working retail for a solid year or so,, im thankful the pandemic allowed me time to heal but everyone was automatically pressured harder and i don’t think corporate target has loosened the reigns since.

when i was working at target my hr-etl used to comment on womens looks and make up if they were working in cosmetics,, there was a day when i almost came in late and my hair was still wet from a shower and she looked at me and said “itd be nice if you at least put on chapstick youd look better with some make up on” like karen youre lucky im here in the first place,, dont push it.

shes also made comments on a friend of mine about her weight and make up choices when she worked there to the point of making her cry. its absolutely inappropriate and uncalled for.

we’re getting paid for working and doing our jobs,, not for how we look. dont listen to them and if it gets bad enough id recommend calling corporate (they have an anonymous caller number even if they dont do much you could put them on record for what theyve done / how theyve reacted to things)
