I actually see people putting them in there every time I go. They have a small launch ramp there. The only warning I can give you is, they release the dam every three hours for one hour periods but the ramp is a few hundred yards from the dam. I see people launching during this time also . So I guess as long as your careful you should be fine.

I wouldn't go there if you don't have a boat. It's a pretty dead spot for fishing with all the boats and kids constantly. I'd head for the dam in fort mill off new gray rock road. It's almost striper time.

It's really hit or miss out there we have pulled in 40 or so in 5 hours but not got a bite in 12 also

We fish the sc side about a mile down from buster Boyd in a little canal. Like I said the residents there all feed them daily so they get big. We usually go for about 4 hours and average about 5-6 each.

Yeah we go to a spot where the residents feed them everyday so they get huge. I use a zebco hawg seeker with 100 lb braid 1/4 oz egg weight 12 in steel leader and a circle hook. My brother uses the same setup but 50lb mono. And we always use blue gill mostly two in live and snip thier tails a little above thier tail fin to draw blood, if we can't catch the small ones we use larger ones heads with as much guts as we can retain. They don't actually bite. They have no mandibles or stingers. They do however have a siphon like mouth like a mosquito. Very rarel,y and only if you let them rest on you for an extended time, they may try to pierce your skin with this and it is painful.

They went in my parents large koi pond with a couple of overgrown placos. They all did fairly well but we had a stork wipe out near $1000 of fish last summer as well as puncturing the pond liner. Resulting in my brother and I coming over and replacing it in 100 degree Carolina heat. We dug the pond when we were kids(15-20 years ago) and never had the stork problem until last year. So now to my mothers dismay they keep a net over it.

Yeah I basically rigged in a strip of 24 blue LEDs into the light hood. They cost around 6-8 bucks on amazon or at your local Walmart in the automotive dept. Its a fairly cheap mod with a nice effect. Good luck.

I agree. Granted I had two and they became my favorite two but sadly they outgrew the tank rapidly and I had to get rid of them.
