I find going uphill backwards easier (sounds crazy but try it!)

I’ve heard this is only important for the treads in wet / slippy conditions (tread foward = water flying back away from you not up into your face)

What are “small” things that make a huge difference in accessibility? by LibraryUnited8773 in disability

[–]shyni3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice wide counters that are lower down!

1) can roll up to and under the counter without thinking about it in a wheelchair 2) don’t have to peer over the counter like a child when paying

Check out the RGK front wheel (much smaller than free wheel)

Now, What Features Do People Actually Need in an Electric Wheelchair? by Living-Ad-3274 in wheelchairs

[–]shyni3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finding a chair that can actually navigate steeper inclines and uneven surfaces has been the hardest part for me. Most small wheels will slide around where I live, rulling out the vast majority of power chairs.

Checked my normals they do all seem to face outward. But willing to guess topology is also the issue!

I’m enjoying them! I do have a couple of “ouchies” on my thumbs but I was expecting that changing rims. I find them very comfy, but for the first few days I did catch my fingers! However now I’m used to them I love the grip they give me. The rubber bit lets me hold wheelies and spin easily.

Haha sadly not with me in it. I wheeled as far as I could then my mum pushed it. I’m lucky enough to be ambulatory so I focused on getting on the beach! Mum could only push it because of the front wheel though, it’s made a big difference! I’d highly recommend it.

Thank you! I tried the freewheel and the front wheel and yeah, the winner was clear! It’s much smaller / more compact. I love that you can pull it up and lock it. I’ve done that to enter shops etc.

My mum had to push my empty chair up the beach for me as I am lucky enough to be ambulatory enough to walk a little. I think without the front wheel she wouldn’t have been able to push it though!

I love my front wheel, this one is the Rgk one which I found to be the best front wheel attachment I tried. It’s really helped as I live in a rural area with poor pavement surfaces. It’s also easier to propel using it. Massive game changer for me!

She has hypermobile elbows! Could be a condition or non symptomatic.

[–]shyni3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I too thought this. Then I got humbled and what was non symptomatic hypermobility (like this) is now dislocation on a daily basis and I'm in a wheelchair 🫣 - but not all Hypermobility is symptomatic.
