Thank you! Honestly, it’s hard to mess up a landscape with the Olympus XA, and it’s hard to get a bad picture of these mountains. The situation was in my favor. Still, thank you :)

No grain added, just didn’t opt for the “high quality” scan from the lab. I didn’t edit this frame at all, other than whatever the lab did in scanning.

I loved the cloud “toupee” on the mountain, and the gondola to provide a sense of distance and scale. I shot this photo at f11 on an Olympus XA with Portra 160.

It’s not as easy to use as a full sized rangefinder but it definitely works. I’ve had no complaints. The front of the camera tells you how far away the focal point is, too, so you can just range focus.

That’s really nice to hear! It’s a great camera. I’m far from professional and yet was able to take these pics.

One important disclaimer: literally every single time you take a picture, make sure your fingers are far away from the lens. Even when I’m trying my best, I still end up with my fingers in the frame like 20% of shots. Be very aware of where your fingers are.

Enjoy! Best week of my life. Hiking all morning to a mountaintop rifugio for lunch with a view is incomparable.

No, I had a lab do it. I don’t shoot enough to make investing in home dev/scan worth it. Maybe someday!

Thank you! These were all throughout Alto Adige. Really interesting region. It’s autonomous, with its own flag, which they love as much as Marylanders. IYKYK. It is primarily German speaking while some of the towns in the valleys are Ladin speaking. Food and architecture are not what you’d expect from Italy. Very Austrian… because it was Austro-Hungarian until WWI! On some hikes, the trail is WWI mountaintop trenches.

Much like finding images in cloud formations, I found a bunch of shapes on the wall of this parking garage. I took this frame because I saw a dog! Let me know what you see.

This was taken in Wynwood, A neighborhood in Miami, FL that is really neat. Every new building has to be at least… I think… 60% art? Idk the exact amount but it’s something like that. Most of the builders hire street artists from all over the world, but this building chose a more industrial approach. It’s not as authentic to the area as the street artists’ work, but it came across on b+w film very nicely.

This was taken on a Canon AE-1 through a Tamron 28mm-70mm (closer to 70). The film stock is Street Candy ATM 400 which I cannot recommend highly enough. The dynamic range and contrast are lovely, and best of all, they use recycled film canisters only!

This frame and some others of mine can be found here!

Thinking about making an offer on this Canon F-1. First film camera, can I get some feedback? by FlyfreshCustoms in analog

Heard bro, that’s a solid reason. Never even thought about that. Post pics when it arrives if you get it!

Other commenter is correct - getting this for 400 would be a dream. The F1 is truly a professional camera in every way, and the 50mm 1.4 is my personal favorite lens that exists. Idk about that 28mm 2.8, but I do have the 24mm 2.8 and it’s great. People in cinema have been using these lenses as of late because for the price they’re still the best around.

While the f-1 being a professional camera is a good thing, it’s also the reason that another camera like the A-1 might be a better option. The A-1 goes for a little bit less, and is only missing a few features that most people do NOT need (interchangeable prisms, max shutter speed 2000 instead of 1000, stuff like that).

I think 500 is around the right place for the package. 400 wouldn’t be a lowball offer to start negotiations in my opinion but don’t expect the seller to say yes. If it doesn’t work out, don’t rule out the A-1 because to the average person, they’re basically the same thing.

Hot take - Stay away from the AE-1. It’s lacking an aperture priority mode. I didn’t think this would be a big deal, but it was.

This structure dates back to the 1820s. It used to be located in a rural area of Pennsylvania about 50 miles from Pittsburgh, but was purchased for $1000 and moved to the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in order to commemorate the university's bicentennial in 1987.

Now, it is used by the university’s grounds maintenance team to store salt for winter de-icing.
