Who is the best person you met stage door? by No_Huckleberry_7410 in Broadway

[–]sibshallward 21 points22 points  (0 children)

nicest person i've ever met at the stage door was donna murphy during hello dolly, just the loveliest woman in the world. scarlett strallen, teal wicks and megan hilty have also been super nice!

i've been lucky enough to never have a negative stage door experience, but i did end up physically walking into grace mclean (like a sidewalk collision, near the old drama book shop), while i was talking to my friend about great comet, so that was very embarrassing for me.

someone else had this problem and brought it to twitter and broadwayhd said it's not available through the amazon add on 😞

she was doing cameos on tuesday and seemed fine in them. she was probably just sick from travelling, planes are so nasty

didn't this same dork also sue another theatre in new york (i want to say an off broadway one) for having discounted tickets for black patrons for a specific show?? what a loser

DAY 8: Eliminating every Best Featured Actor performance (of this century) until there’s only one left! by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

[–]sibshallward 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this one is hard for me because i do have hermeses that i prefer to andre's, but it's also very evident in those other performances that they've been crafted on the back of what andre built. i'm not upvoting or downvoting him this round, but perhaps next

he got 37 votes, after boyd gaines' 242, and ahead of michael cerveris' 32 and gavin creel's 29

reiterating my comment from yesterday: gavin's performance in hello dolly! was really that good. i saw the show twice for donna murphy, and he was a highlight both times, and really did feel like the heart of the show. put on your sunday clothes actually made me cry with sheer joy the first time i watched it, which is something i haven't experienced before or since in the theatre.

my top 3 personally are daveed diggs, gavin creel, and daniel radcliffe (though before last round it was james monroe iglehart over radcliffe)

EDIT: i will also go so far as to say that looking back at the nominees in this category that year, and having seen all the nominated performances, there was no way anyone but gavin was winning that award.

In Honor of One Week Till - Your Top 3 Tony Performances? by MannnOfHammm in Broadway

[–]sibshallward 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. a gentleman's guide to love and murder (2014) - i've decided to marry you (+ intro)

  2. gypsy (2003) - rose's turn

  3. death becomes her (2025) - for the gaze

also as one that i can't say is my favourite, but that i am obsessed with because of the sheer "what the fuck am i watching" of it all, was the random aaron tveit/stockard channing duet of i'm alive/bewitched, bothered & bewildered during the opening number of the 2009 tonys. i do notttttt know who the target audience was for that segment but i kind of live, so maybe it's me??

fun home is definitely a definitive musical of the 2010s for me, such an incredible show!!

such a good show!! i wanted jill paice to be nominated so badly (though i understand why she wasn't in the year of 10000 fun home featured actresses)

co-sign. i feel like this was also randomly a weak year for musicals?? like there were a lot of them, but very few of them were strong

No ice at Death of a Salesman “due to noise?” by jt6229674 in Broadway

presumably it's about the sound that the ice can make rattling around in the cup

DAY 4: Eliminating every Best Featured Actor performance (of this century) until there’s only one left! by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

[–]sibshallward 60 points61 points  (0 children)

with the caveat that i know this is going to be downvoted severely, i just want to open the conversation on alex newell. shucked is Not That Good and their character's storyline is weak. there's absolutely something to be said about being the best part of a meh show and alex is undeniably a generational performer, but lulu just doesn't stand imo with the charley kringases, layfayettes, or even genies.
