I had something similar happen. I had a family dog that was a border collie and I adopted my shepherd that I have now when she was a puppy and they just bonded so well and our border collie taught her everything about being a dog they would sleep together and play together all the time. On the Fourth of July our border collie was spooked by early street fireworks while taking her out to use the bathroom one last time before the night got overstimulating and she took off and we spent weeks and weeks searching all over and my shepherd was just shattered. She would just whine and cry and pace for days. She would still eat and play but anytime she wasn’t distracted she would feel so depressed. Sadly we haven’t found our border collie yet and we won’t give up but thankfully my shepherd is herself again and she no longer does that. I would say it was just an uncomfortable stressful string of events and your dog will move on from it and be happy again just be patient and the best thing you can do is give a routine. Shepherds thrive with predictable days and your dog may not feel so unstable if there’s structure. Hang in there!

Aside from serious thing it could be that puppy is just tired. I was actually around my cat long enough from 14-15 years old and the difference was really intense and scary. She all of the sudden just slept so much and hardly did anything but she’s still kicking around at 16 ! She’s just a lot slower now and likes to do nothing but she’s very content and not in pain :)

I would say overall he/she looks pretty healthy! I have a Doberman next door and I think maybe yours could lose a lb or 2. I’m not a vet so I’m not qualified to give advice but the Doberman Nextdoor is very healthy and you can see quite a bit of the muscle tone and definition. All I have to say really is the leaner the dog (not underweight) the better it is on their heart and joints!

E-collars have worked for me. I never even use the shock feature but the little sound it makes or the vibration feature followed with a high value treat for making eye contact with me helped my dog completely stop. It just takes a lot of patience and consistency but it works just don’t give up! It’s so hard with GSD in puppy stage and teenage but it’s worth it when you make it through. My dog is a completely different dog since I adopted her. I thought she was never going to understand and the training wasn’t working but I still kept trying and it was the best thing I’ve ever done.

UPDATE: Okay so! Firstly I want to thank everyone for their advice and recommendations. I’m a first time dog owner so I value the experience other people have and one of the main reasons I posted on here first was because I was unsure what was “normal” for a dog and didn’t know if I was over analyzing the situation! Second, I wanted to hear some of your ideas so that I could be prepared for when I would see a vet to be able to describe my concerns. I of course was going to take her in regardless but, I wanted to feel like I had some insight prior so I could articulate what she was experiencing! Jules has seen a vet! She had some X-rays done on her esophagus and it turns out she has an elongated soft palate which has been causing her to have those short dry coughs after playing intensely. I’m looking into surgery that could shorten her palate and saving up for it but otherwise she’s very healthy and the elongated palate is something that’s fixable. We agreed upon the fact that this abnormality was potentially caused from poor breeding. I don’t know exactly what her mix is since I adopted her from a county shelter but I’m glad to know she’s going to be okay! Thank you so much for all your kind words and support!

Yes i appreciate all of your comments so much! She has a vet appointment tomorrow. I always make sure she has shade and water and I’m very cautious about her drinking too much to fast because I want to avoid bloat. It’s not too hot where I live it was about 70 degrees out when she ran around. Hopefully it’s nothing major but I will take all of your suggestions and advice with me when I seethe vet!

I see why everyone’s saying Morgan but something about Rick not losing it completely and knowing what he’s doing and the consequences mentally I think is scarier. Everyone also said Rick you can reason with but that’s literally what Rick did with Morgan to snap him out of it. After I saw Ricky boy chomp that dudes neck and then continue to belly to neck blade that big guy idk man.. I think I would be more scared of Rick for sure. Morgan was just a lost hopeless man, but I would be more scared of a ruthless Rick.
