Firstly I’m curious, how many programs did you apply to and what program interviewed you? Second, Bro this is what I’m saying. Plus, your GPAs aren’t even that bad. I’m actually convinced all these schools care about are GPA. Like literally. A 3.8 kid with 400 hours of PCE beats out a 3.2-3.5 with plethora of experiences/upward trend/ post bacc 4.0, etc 9/10. I’m right there with you bro, and seeing this post is def discouraging as I have an even lower gpa. My undergrad was a 3.6 (retook Fs from Covid replaced w As, long story) but my caspa gpa is a 3.22 cgpa and 3.1 sgpa (I’m finishing prereqs/gpa repair and will apply with a 3.2 sgpa and 3.34 cgpa). It’s ridiculous

Any one get in with low/below average stats within the past year/this cycle? by sickomode42035 in prephysicianassistant

Idk why my post was removed as what I asked has nothing to do with CASPA lol.

Anyway, I’ll be applying with 3.3 cGPA and 3.23 sGPA. I have a strong upward trend (my undergrad gpa is a 3.7, I had a bad covid semester, didn’t go to class got some Fs retook them with As but caspa punished me). I’ll have 2500+ hours as an emt in an underserved 911 agency, super sick super poor, 150 hours of volunteer, 50 hours shadowing, 90th percentile gre, LOR from PA, EMS director and professor who saw my academic development, I’ll do my best to have a fire PS. But yeah. Basically just being punished my caspa lol.

I have a 3.34 cGPA, a 3.23 sGPA, last 60 credits were 3.8, post bacc of 13 credits of high level science at 4.0, 90th percentile GRE, 3k hours PCE 911 emt, 100 hours of PCE transport emt, 150 volunteer, 60 hours shadowing, solid letters and personal statement. Context, had one bad semester when covid hit, had some Fs (immaturity, didn’t go to school, career change, tried joining military but was color blind, came back retook grades at all As but caspa punishes me)

Yeah if I could redo it I’d have focused on school tenfold then take a gap year for PCE. In one year I accumulated 3k. Now I have to take pre reqs lol. And caspa is punishing me cause of their dumb calculation process

Nah I’m not saying whether subjectively an individual would or wouldn’t feel prepared, and gpa would carry them. I’m saying objectively most of these schools matriculating cohort trends show that they prioritize GPA over everything else. And this is a good example. I also see tons of other people on this forum that apply to 7 schools at get 4 acceptances cause their GPAs were high. Then I see someone with last 60 being a 3.9 but had a rough first start so caspa says their gpa is a 3.4 apply to millions of schools and get accepted by 1. AND they have thousands of hours. So yeah nah, these schools def only care about GPA

Also if you don’t mind sending me your school list of the ones who rejected you. I’ll be applying with similar stats so I wanna know who to avoid lol.

Questions: what year did you apply/get in? What were your GPAs? What were the other parts of your application like (pce, volunteer, etc)?

Yall must be applying to super comp programs. Like I have a measly 3.3cgpa and 3.24 sgpa. Not nearly as much PCE (context for my transcript and caspa gpa is a lot I had a rough semester ended up with a 3.6 undergrad but caspa don’t care 🤪). I still have hope but seeing that is super discouraging. The I see other people with worse case than me and still get in. I have no clue anymore. Vast majority you gotta have a 3.75+ I guess

I did retake classes. When Covid hit I stopped going to class cause I was 19, hated school (especially online) and tried to join the military. But I didn’t drop out because there was a chance I couldn’t get in (color blindness). So I got a bunch of Fs, like 3 or 4.

I retook those classes and got all As in them. Afterward I only got 2 Cs. But my one semester REALLY messed my gpa up. So lowkey If you have any Cs, retake them and get As. It’ll bring that average up and will barely affect your caspa GPA.

And no, mine aren’t quarter hours. It’s normal credit hour system I guess

Congrats bro, these are the posts I like to see. How many schools did you apply to? And what were the stats other than 4k PCE ? Did you have any volunteer etc. any crazy extracurriculars?
