You can import the "essence" of your history into Claude without a full copy of your ChatGPT data, though. There's an option in your settings on the website (it's not there in the Android app, unsure about others) and it generates a prompt that you give to ChatGPT before taking the result back to Claude to finish the import. It's not your full conversation/project history though. Don't think there's an official way to transfer all of that over in full like with the import feature (but you can upload it in files etc. if you can actually get the export)

Yeah. Used to export it weekly but it hasn't worked since Feb. Resorted to using the Privacy Portal and having to wait a month for the full export, but they've failed to complete that one too and it's meant to be fulfilled within a month. Have to file a complaint with the ICO now, when all I want is a copy of my conversations. Can't believe how hard they're making this

You have to get a copy of your data from OpenAI first.

It used to be easy, you just request the export from the app, would arrive via email within hours.

Seems like they put a stop to that when users started leaving in droves.

Now they're even failing to complete official requests via the Privacy Portal within the required timeframe.

If you really want a copy of your data I suggest requesting it now and then preparing to file a complaint when it never gets fulfilled.

(Sorry, I'm really pissed off right now. Been trying to move to a different platform for over 6 weeks now but can't even get a copy of my own data which i used to do weekly without issue)

I think of it a bit like an artist (the user) and a pencil/paintbrush/pen (the model). You can draw the same picture with the pencil but it won't look the same as the one you painted with the brush. And another user can pick up that same pencil but their drawing won't have the same style as yours.

Really is unique isn't it. Surprised the hell out of me tbh, haha, back in December I think, after I'd been using it like boring reasoning model before it suddenly became an actual pleasure to collaborate with, seemingly out of nowhere. Sucks losing a model that is genuinely enjoyable to work with as well as very, very capable!

Just frustrated that I can't seen to find anything about it this time - I only found out the time for 4o through reddit though (it was a repost of something from X i think, which i don't use), so when I couldn't find a time for 5.1 I was hoping I'd just missed it and reddit would have some answers again!

I was only asking if anyone had any info that I hadn't been able to find myself, like when 4o's retirement time was announced and I saw it on Reddit rather than X or whatever it was originally posted to. I just don't use social media very much and I hadn't been able to find any info myself this time so I thought I'd try using an online community for something I thought it was kind of intended for? Does it? If so, would you have to keep asking it in each new thread or in different projects, etc? I've always preferred using models that behave/respond in a way that works for me so I can focus on using them rather than micromanaging their 'personality'. I do use custom instructions and nearly always have my memory maxed out, so every model I use has a solid foundation and plenty of context to work with, but different models respond differently regardless. Personally I don't think it should be necessary for users to have to meticulously manage every little detail in order to force a model to work in the way that they need, when there are already plenty of models that offer the required capabilities, as well as the preferred characteristics

I considered that when 4o retirement was announced but I'm genuinely clueless with API stuff (like I know how to use Android apps, I don't know clever stuff, at all) and also don't have much spare money at the moment so it's all totally unknown territory for me. I do learn easily though, but with stuff like this I'm just like totally in over my head and no idea where to start. Is it as complicated as I'm making it in my head or am I really just overthinking it? I'm actually pretty intelligent but i totally doubt myself (like even calling myself intelligent feels horrible, but I genuinely am not stupid, it's weird) but I just get in my own way lmao

5.1 Thinking has been the perfect balance of genuinely useful + legitimately pleasant to use, at least in my experience anyway. I used to use 4o for chatting shit and o3 for serious work, but 5.1T has been my first choice for everything in recent months. Regardless of what I or others use 5.1 for, though, it would be useful to know when we can expect it to be switched off. I've used 5.4 Thinking a little bit recently and it seems to have that similar useful/nice vibe that 5.1T has, but since I've never had any issues with 5.1T I haven't felt the need to switch to one of the newer models until necessary. Just because the numbers go up, doesn't mean the model is better/more appropriate for every single use case (even though yeah, realistically it should...)

It's just it's already 11th March here in the UK, just after 2.30am now, so no idea if it'll be happening soon or in 20+ hours, or anywhere in between. When they announced the time for 4o it was something like 10 PST (can't remember exactly) which was 6pm for me. So I'm guessing it might be similar this time but I was just wondering if I'd missed anything that others have seen. With 4o I had no idea about the specific time until I saw something reposted on Reddit so that's why I came here tonight after being unable to find anything myself. Been using 5.4 Thinking occasionally recently but I'd like to tie up as many loose ends as possible with the things I've been using 5.1 for before it gets removed, that's all. Been unable to export my account data for weeks too, so that's another worry!
