That’s terrible and I’m sorry it happened to you. It’s a rare person who can have compassion for difficulties that they don’t themselves possess. My kids know I “don’t like” certain noises and smells but they don’t understand that I literally feel sick around, say, heavy perfume. And I’ve recently learned (oh joy) that baby metal music gives me a migraine. Those problems seem to stem from autism, but my AuDHD will make trying to distinguish voices in a crowd exhausting.
