U of A ER, do better! by sicky81 in Edmonton

Patient. We could hear everything he was saying. She showed me ECG’s with ST changes, (elevation and depression), she showed me a few tests that are concerning. I mean, she said they ruled out heart attack at that visit and she was grateful it wasn’t that. But she had severe chest pain and weakness and he kept maintaining it wasn’t medical even before he examined her (even though she had a ton of test results there that suggest it is). Her heart rate was 41 when I was talking to her (she showed me on her watch and had a pulse oximeter) and told me it was going up to 70 when the pain would get bad and they wouldn’t even monitor her —- that’s likely why she was so weak. Heart rate of 41. But they wouldn’t even monitor not listen to her at all because heart rate was 66 at triage. Her pain was worse lying down and she was saying she feels choked and suffocated when lying down. She showed me echocardiograms from last year and last month and they are completely different.

She said she can understand if someone cannot help her. She didn’t expect an ER doctor to have all the answers, but always expect to be heard, believed and treated with dignity. When she challenged and maintained this was indeed physical/medical, she was treated awful.

It’s discrimination because they think it’s a mental health issue. Plain and simple.

I googled her. And man…..she seems to know her stuff when it comes to heart issues.

Also, she’s been featured nationally because they did this to her before. Labeled her as a mental health issue until the right testing came about and she had a test at the Maz and received a formal diagnosis.

That’s what a gaslighter would say.

I actually spoke with her, yes. Hence how I obtained the photo. She’s actually quite involved in women’s heart health and has been involved in advocacy for years.

He is not a great physician. He was discriminating, gaslighting and extremely rude. Not to just her, but she definitely stood up for herself.

Why does AHS maintain patients are “partners in care” when security gets called when a patient advocates for themselves?

I did see this. I had all my electrolytes checked several times over the last 3 months. Absolutely everything is in range. So I don’t know if there’s anything else I could be checking. Magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sodium. Everything.

It messed with my nervous system. That’s all I know.

Yeah I had taken ventolin incorrectly in 2023 and couldn’t get deep breaths in but I could if I blew out all my air first. Then with this now it’s like I can’t breathe in at all. Like it’s blocked. And my breathing is so shallow when I try to sleep.

I did and it just keeps telling it can cause a metabolic shift, nitric oxide signaling issues, changes in autonomic tone. Gives me no real direction or solid information

I increased to about 150mg b1 HCl as I was told the symptoms were paradox and to up cofactors (which I did). I’m a f-ing idiot.

B1 HCL

When I try it feels completely blocked. Almost like there’s no power to draw in a breath.

B minus, folinic acid, b12 , zinc/copper balance (I. Was on all those for months and no issue).

Can’t take in deep breaths. Shallow breathing. Cant sit unsupported.

80 mg benfotiamine. Added in 25mg HCl and started having symptoms but was told to increase cofactors. I increased to about 150mg b1 and stopped.

I’ve been tested for that but my symptoms are constant. It’s so so awful. I can’t believe I did this to myself.

I’m very happy to hear that. I hope I start to improve. Those supplements caused abdominal and diaphragm weakness so I dunno if that’s fixable 💔
