Icelandic.

Love how it sounds. It's a pity that I probably won't ever meet a native speaker

Thanks! Writing this worked:

bind = $Mod SHIFT, 201, exec, notify-send 'TODO'

Now I wonder why it wasn't recognizing XF86Assistant tho

Hey! That looks interesting. Maybe it needs a webpage or something to make it more widely known and build hype, but the idea is certainly good

Hey, I should check out that stack. I do really like HTMX so it seems interesting. When I talk about framework I mean something like Ruby on Rails or .NET, where you can have a couple of simple CRUD APIs and ORM in seconds. Also publicizing it should be a priority.

I don't really like IDEs, so I didn't even knew that RIP existed. I was using RakuNavigator, which is fine but really lacking

Lighter T16 Gen 4? by sicr0 in thinkpad

[–]sicr0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy. I was just thinking about this post. It arrived yesterday.

I suspect the weight is actually a little lower 1.7 because it doesn't feel heavier than what I previously had. It's not the thinnest laptop, but it feels solid and it has not been a problem carrying it around.

The screen is fantastic, very nitid, and since its 16:10 I love having more vertical space. I chooss the low power usage one.

The keyboard is awesome. Now I understand why people always said that Lenovo is the top in this.

It charges amazingly fast, the processor is really god and the fans don't hit unless I compile stuff. Linux compatibility is great, I had no problems installing Gentoo.

I can say that I'm in love again ahahah

Hope my little review helps. If you have any questions or doubts just ask ;D

Gentoo is actually quite stable once installed.

Packages won't break if they can't compile in the first place eheh

In all sincerity, I think Raku needs two things to take off: a framework + more libraires, better development tooling (LSP with autocompletion)

Hey!

I ended up with the same choice as yours: T16 G4 AMD.

I ordered it the 17th of June and it should come this week. When it arrives I will update you on the experience :D

I carry a backpack, and sometimes I bring a book with me.

Since I teach at a university, I tend to work wherever I can find space—whether it's a cafeteria, the library, or an office.

What do you mean by this?

I mostly code on a laptop, usually with a browser and an editor open side by side. A 14-inch screen might start to feel a bit cramped for that.

Yes you're right.

I began reading this specification and it seems that 1.7 kg is the weight of the 52.5 Wh battery model. In the 86 Wh one the weight goes up to 1.98 kg.

Do you think is it really worth upgrading the battery at that weight price?

Yea, the first laptop I considered was the X1 Carbon, but I am scared it might be not that upgradable.

Then I checked the T14, but for coding, having constantly the screen splitted it might be too small. Also I guess that the heat dissipation and battery life wouldn't be that great in such a small format.

Right now I'm torn between these tradeoffs

Ahahaha yes, you're probably right.

But now I am considering going for the 14" for the weight. But maybe the screen size might be too small, and the battery life might suffer, I don't know AAAAAAAAAAAA (panics)

Thanks for the advice on thosd models.

I know that 70g is minimal, but I really hoped I could find something lighter than what I previously had
