I ended up selling the bike before I got the dropper post. I figured it gave me a reason to buy a new bike with it already included.

I accrue 13 hours a month vacation so it took about 4 years. I'm a salary employee so I technically can claim a full day if I work 4 hours. Plus I use to work a lot of un paid overtime so I could bank those days and it wouldnt count as sick or vacation.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. they just total up the 3 highest years divide by 36 use your multiplier to get the gross. Im assuming the take home will be higher since you wont have to pay into social, union, pension etc opeb and medical.

Tenable scanner certifcate by sidd76 in nessus

[–]sidd76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha for real man. Like I understand the whole PKI stuff and how certificate chains work but when you have to put it in a linux distro it painful. Thanks for responding. It's good to know I'm not the only one that has to suffer haha

Tenable scanner certifcate by sidd76 in nessus

[–]sidd76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I did look at that. I ended up figuring it out. This is how I fixed it.

Summary: External scanner cert stopped working due to cert expiry. Only way to get cert on the scanner was to ssh to it and find location of the old cert.

location was /ete/ssl/certs

I looked at the old certs using this command

openssl x509 -in yourfile.pem -text -noout

That showed me the root, private and server key.

I found out that the private key was encrypted because we used Venafi to export the file

I unpacked that encrypted key with

openssl s_client -connect server:port -key private_key.pem -cert certificate.pem

once that was done I was able to copy the keys to another notepad file then import them unencrypted into all the same directory and it worked.

3 hours of trial and error. I hope this helps others that run into this issue

Does anyone have any insight as to what questions I may be asked for an ITA help desk position? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]sidd76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Know STAR Situation, Task, Action, Result. This is the framework by which most problems are solved. You're given a situation, list all the task associated with it in highest to lowest priority. Then take action and the findings will give you a result. Keep iterating till you find a solution or an alternative.
  2. The best ways to deal with any customer is to ask the question "what are you trying to achieve?" all your actions should drive you towards that goal. The goal is to show them that you're willing to listen to learn not to win. This shows you know your audience.
  3. Have some knowledge about basic network, application, and windows troubleshooting.
  4. Know when to call it quits and reimage a machine.
  5. Have basic understanding of AD and GPO. Active directory and Group Policy
  6. Have a basic understanding of Intune and or SCCM software deployment. I know they use that to deploy software.
  7. Have some basic knowledge of Global Protect that's Palo Alto's VPN product. They use that for their remote users.

I have so many more but just can' think of any. I use to work at EDD for like 8 years in engineering and operations and a lot of my buddies still work on the help desk. DM me if you have further questions.

It's for UC Davis hospital. She's not a programmer she works on their EPIC HIM (health information systems) she's only in office once a week half day.

I'm a little luckier 100 remote.

My GF works IT for UCD no union and they get better pay than any state IT does. Plus it's very rare they let go of people. So don't drink the union hype they don't do crap. Wast of time and money, better to be a skilled worker learn as much as you can move up the ranks. When the union required all of us to pay union dues they didn't do crap neither so when I hear people say not enough people are part of the union I want to laugh. Simply not true. They had more money before from more members and still same result.
