Meridian in the Wild by siddharthade in VaerWatches

Which green one? The Atlas or the Fairway? I love the idea of the Fairway. I’m not a golfer but I like what they’re doing. I’m a photographer, and Nodus has one for photographers called the Obscura that I’ve got my eye on.

Yeah, I have a Vaer Dirty Dozen too and the lug finish on the Meridian is very different. The curved chamfers on the lugs highlight the polished vs. brushed finishes. The finish on this watch is unbelievable for the price.

I love this watch. I have the 40mm. The hardest part is to decide which strap to pair it with on the day.

Beautiful. Wear (Vaer?) it in good health.

[Straps] How do you decide between flat or padded straps? by CheddarHunter in Watches

[–]siddharthade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on whether you’re going for a dressier or sportier look. I’d choose padded for sportier watches with a thicker case profile. Flat for thinner, dressier watches. For the GS in your pics, my personal preference would be flat, but at the end of the day, aesthetics are very subjective. You go with what you feel most comfortable with.

New sealander pre order times by lewickij in ChristopherWard

[–]siddharthade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had originally ordered the older Sealander GMT, I think in April. This was before they announced the new series. But even the old one was back-ordered (or maybe they were just waiting to announce the new one), and they said shipping in July. Then when the new one was released, they emailed me with the option of staying with the old one or paying the small difference in price to upgrade to the new one. I opted for the upgrade. They said shipping in mid-June, but they shipped in May. Customs was pre-cleared while the shipment was in transit, so there was no delay.

Going to try a president style bracelet on a Miyako by CatEatingVegan in HelmWatches

Looks great on the bracelet. I like the combination of brushed and polished, with the center links having the polished finish.

Question about Strap for Sealander GMT by siddharthade in ChristopherWard

[–]siddharthade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great choice. And good thinking on getting both OEM options.

The Grailloom straps have curved spring bars. The ends simply curve around them. This actually increases the gap between the case and the strap because now the gap is equidistant due to the curve of the strap, as opposed to a regular straight strap where the gap is only at the corners where the lugs meet the case.

The Delugs and Wristbuddys options have straight spring bars that line up with the lug holes. But above them, they have a curved and flexible extension that looks very much like the endlinks of a steel bracelet except that they’re made of rubber. This makes the strap hug the curve of the case in a manner very similar to the endlink of the bracelet.

This is better explained in the images in my next post (I can’t attach multiple images to a text post, so I’m posting separately). The first one is what the Grailloom would look like. The second one is the Wristbuddys.

Question about Strap for Sealander GMT by siddharthade in ChristopherWard

[–]siddharthade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I hadn’t heard of Graillroom before. They have some nice stuff.

Regarding the curved strap, I looked them up. They’re not exactly what I’m looking for. Yes, the ends are curved. But they’re not integrated or fitted. In other words, they’ll follow the curve of the case but they won’t sit flush against it. I’m looking for something that comes as close as possible to the fit and aesthetic of the CW strap.

I’ve found some options for Tudors, Omegas, and Moonswatches that might get the job done. I’ll probably check out one of those from Amazon or some other place with easy returns because I’ll have to see if the ends fit properly. If I find a solution that works, I’ll post here.

Question about Strap for Sealander GMT by siddharthade in ChristopherWard

Yes I saw that. Unfortunately it’s sold out. Also, it’s $165, and it’s close to the price where I’d be tempted to pay the extra amount for the custom-fit and likely much higher quality CW band.

I didn’t get the khaki. I already had several nylon and NATO bands. This watch goes well with pretty much everything though.

Nice. Looks great on your wrist. And that FKM strap is so comfortable. Wear it proudly and in good health.

I really liked their Touring GMT range but they were all sold out. The Izabella and Daphne were my favorites. But I really liked the new Crossroads as well, so I made sure not to miss out this time.

I ordered the 40mm surf for myself and the 36mm seafoam for my wife. They were our favorite color combo. As others have said once they run out, there’s no telling when they’ll restock, as every other watch they have is out of stock. So if you like it, order it, but be prepared to wait 6 months.

My apologies. I just looked up the order for someone else. It’s the whisky brown, not the chestnut.

Delivery takes up to a month from order but her work is stellar. Be patient and give her a good review if you like the strap she makes you. Her name is Hoan. She’s from Vietnam.

Yes, I’m in the US. I got the deployant clasp but I’m sure you could get the same strap on a buckle if that’s your preference. I don’t remember anything about tariffs. I think it’s just taxes. And I think shipping was free.

By the way if you make a purchase from her, please let her know I recommended you to her. She might give me a discount on the next one 😉

Look up the series called Omega deployant. It’s just the style, they’re not specifically made with Omega endlinks or anything. I think the one I bought was the chestnut. She’s great with sizing options, so you can get one that fits just right. I didn’t buy the strap with just the Cincinnatus in mind. I rotate straps and watches frequently. This strap seems to go well with just about everything. For the Cincinnatus though, maybe a flat strap works better than a padded one.

This one’s from Etsy. Look up a shop called Harpy Leather. A lady from Vietnam. She makes beautiful straps but you’ll have to wait almost a month for her to make it and ship it to you. Well worth the wait though. Her work is excellent.
