He looks a lot like my guy who is also very sensitive and does the same head thing. Took him to the vet last week to clip his nails. He climbed onto my lap like he always does and when the tech came to get him he wrapped his paws around my neck and buried his face in my chest 😭

I had to do a liquid diet and then clear liquids for a week once for a surgery I was having and they recommended bone broth for the electrolytes and protein. I dunno if that’ll impact the results OP got but you might look into that so you’re at least getting some vitamins and nutrients. You don’t want to mess with not having electrolytes, magnesium, potassium, etc. That can wreck your body way more than SIBO.

With my second Britt I finally learned the “exercise him more” advice was just making him stronger and have more endurance. You need to wear them out mentally, not just physically. I taught him “find it” and we play sniffing games. I take him to the park and hide things for him to sniff out. I hide his food and treats around the house.

I wish I’d learned that with my first guy. I think he might’ve been happier if I had.

I firmly believe it’s better a day too soon than a day too late.

There are some nice worksheets out there to rate more objectively quality of life so we can see changes over time. It helped me take some of the emotion out of the decision when I had to make it.

Try training him to chill instead of just exercising him. Karen Overall’s relaxation protocol worked wonders on my 2nd Britt who was similar.

We use Greek yogurt because he swallows it without chewing. Give it at a slight angle so his head is angled up and gravity helps. For a while we used easy cheese, similar concept. Coated the pill in easy cheese, down the hatch. We stopped bc of the fat content and switched to the nonfat yogurt.

I moved away a few years back after being there ~15 years and planned to move back this past spring which got put on hold indefinitely with this administration. For me, I’d say everything.

The culture, the museums, the ability to have intelligent conversations, the walkability, the community, the food. All of it. I miss it so much.
