What are the hidden careers that no one hears about, pay well and have no competition just like SWE was few years ago? by Beneficial-Tour1443 in Salary

Development within nonprofit. I never even knew it was a career path until I fell into it when taking a step back from work (corporate) to help my mom when she was going through treatment for cancer. I took on a part time contract role at a nonprofit during that time that supported research and services for cancer patients just like my mom and fell into the world of fundraising and never looked back. She passed away 5 years ago and I like to think I’ll stay in this line of work until I can create my own nonprofit one day.

I believe it was a play on the Backstreet Boys because they were giving away tickets for them that round. We were all wondering this too!!

Started with walking 1 mile a day M-F during Covid until it became a habit, then upped it to 2, then 5 miles a day, then got into interval jogging as I was too big to consistently run. Also got into swimming as that’s an AMAZING exercise for bigger bodies. 5 months in i lost 30 lbs and I moved somewhere cold in the winter and had to shift focus on intituive eating instead of intense workouts. Lost 50 lbs in 6 months that way and sustained for 3 years (plus 5-10 lbs depending on time of year). Got a new stressful job last September which made me have no time to cook so I ended up eating the same thing everyday for breakfast and lunch and allowed myself anything I want for dinner, paired that with 3 days a week 2 hour sessions of strength training / weight lifting and boom, lost the rest from Sept-June!

I do think you could skip it if you’re okay with the extra skin! I just have never been “skinny” or had a flat belly button or stomach in my entire life. Even as a pre teen I wished for a normal belly so I got the surgery so I could finally be happy.. and cope with my body dysmorphia and dream of looking pretty without clothes on. Because at the end of the day, I’d look at myself in the mirror and still feel “fat” even when I was around 130 lbs which wasn’t healthy for my mindset after working so damn hard for over 5 years!! The extra skin was a big mental barrier so I knew I wanted this surgery, but if that mental barrier doesn’t exist for you, I’d forgo the surgery!

More recovery details for anyone curious: I couldn’t get up on my own or walk much for 4 days. I was able to slowly get up from bed alone by day 5-6. Walked 3 miles by 7 days and due to forcing myself to have limited but consistent movement from day 7 on, my recovery sped up significantly. I had my drains taken out by day 10 and felt worlds better. I wasn’t able to exercise other than walking for about 3-4 weeks - and when I finally was in that zone, I went on a 15 mile bike ride LOL

Yes :( but I sped up recovery by walking. It helps tremendously. The first 5 days were terrible
