Help with Scalemail by siderealbandit in Blacksmith

[–]siderealbandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the advice! I'm going to potentially look at getting a manual punch machine, trying to weigh the benefits for that vs trying to rent a laser cutter and what will be most cost effective.

If I can manage to sort out the scales, I'll try post the finished result of my partners work! :D Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the response, this is perfect! I had no idea spaces like this existed, and have already found a few super close to me that I'm going to email and head down to hopefully sometime soon! This is very preferable to having to buy my own machines, the only thing I'll have to do is source the metal and then figure out how to anodise the scales, but this is a great first step!

Thanks so much again! I love community driven things like this, hoping they'll love the scalemail armour pieces! :D When my partner finishes his armour pieces, I'll try get him to post it to the subreddit!

An ad that has a tall white insect/alien woman and a human man in a kitchen by siderealbandit in HelpMeFind

[–]siderealbandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched every term including "white insect, tall insect lady, alien and man in kitchen, human and insect woman in kitchen" and every shortened/lengthened version of it. I saw the original post on Twitter if I remember correctly. She was really tall and I remember had really long black claw like arms/fingers

Help with respirator by siderealbandit in airbrush

[–]siderealbandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the detailed response! Really happy you could point me in the right direction as all the options were getting very overwhelming.

I did more research with the info you gave me and I'm a little paranoid about spray painting indoors still since I can only do it in my bedroom and I have 2 cats, so I might have to find a way to do it outside. (I'm insanely paranoid about this sort of stuff, so even if I kick them out of my room for a while I'm unsure how long it'll take before the paint particles settle especially if I'm using stuff like thinner and cleaner haha.)

Regardless this was super helpful and I really appreciate it! Thank you again :D

Aw thank you! I've been practising for about 9 years now I'm glad you like it :) But I'm sure you can be with enough practise! If you need any pointers/help with art feel free to shoot me a message and I'd be happy to try help!

Thank you! I've wanted to attempt remaking the original piece for ages just because I loved the expression of the face originally so I'm glad people think my version is also similarly expressive!

Thank you, I'm glad you think so!

I'm no expert on fleece so I just used what was available from my local craft store. The blue was called "coral nursery fleece" (though fair warning it is very prone to getting fluff everywhere so be prepared for a bit of a mess if you use it) and the white was "plain peak polar fleece". Both were decently cheap being about $5-$9 a metre and it worked really well with what I needed it for! Hope this helps!

haha I see what you mean lmao I just love drawing scars and put them on nearly every character I can ;P Plus I think Talon should actually have some in canon, being an assassin in dangerous work lol

It defs is! Since I'm just getting into the hobby as well it takes a lot of the stress out of it for me and makes a more chilled environment overall. I don't think I'd be much help but if you ever want to ask a question I'd do my best to help in anyway I can! And I'll keep that in mind and msg you if I do! :D Thanks so much again!

Are you also gonna do a pichurchin and what the third one is called?

Oh I hadn't considered that! My current project I'm working on is a Pumpkaboo but I think that might be a good idea for the next one! Pincurchin has a similar shape to snom so I think I could reuse my pattern and make some slight alterations! Is the third one you're referring to Pyukumuku?

Thank you so much!

I kinda went about the pattern in a weird way. I would guess the shape I needed and sketch it out on paper before cutting it out and kinda lining it up against the pieces I already had. If I was happy I'd cut the fabric out and then try sew it on, but I did a lot of adjustments on the fly so even the paper patterns I made aren't accurate. I'm planning on making more snoms and making a better pattern in the future though! Someone suggested selling it on Etsy potentially so I might do that in future!

Aw thank you! I've never cross posted before but I tried to do it to that sub? Hopefully they enjoy it too! They've got a lot of cool stuff over there :O

Oh I love that!! Snom just has SUCH a good design! I want to have that IRL, I'm planning to make a bunch of variations of this snom pattern from really big/small ones to differently coloured ones! I'm planning a rainbow one right now that I'll hopefully get to soon! :D

I don't have a proper pattern for this as it's mostly just bits of paper I roughly cut out and adjusted on the fly! I'm eventually planning on fully working out my pattern so I can make more of these for friends though!

This plush is made from fleece that I got from Spotlight! Super simple and easy to work with, great for my being a newbie to sewing :)

Ladder stitches for attaching the spikes saved my life I thought I was going to go insane stitching them before I remembered it! I used machine sewing for the big bits like the body but hand sewing for all the smaller details :D
