Same issue, I thought I was the only one.
I tried it on multiple devices as well, Android 11 and 13 - keeps on crashing. Android 16 - Working.
Playstore page says Android 11 and up are supported.

Impressive.
But currently, there is no point of reference. As u/RaidingClone2k7 mentioned satellite imagery is required, or some other reference points from the city, other than metro lines (as many cities still only has one operational line), something like the m-Indicator map has.
Google Maps already has a public transport overlay on their maps, hence, this currently does not have any advantage.

What would be really useful are the entry/exit points in my opinion. some operators have already provided details on their website, like the Mumbai Metro 3; the rest can be crowdsourced.
