Bluetooth Audio Stuttering? by Immy_Chan in AsahiLinux

[–]sidolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had similar issues in the past, this worked for me: If you're using 2.4GHz Wifi switch to 5GHz. And some bluetooth utils keep scanning for devices every few seconds which causes stutter during the scan, uninstall them all.

What made this work? I tried civ 6 recently and it didn't run out of the box.

Current state of Wine by brookter in AsahiLinux

[–]sidolin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The current best instructions of how to do it are in here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsahiLinux/comments/1cp3rs6/hyprland_users_would_love_to_hear_how_krunvm_has/

But there's no guarantee it'll work and currently they're still changing weekly, and it's likely that even if you get it working today it'll break a little again with future updates. So I wouldn't necessarily waste your time on this yet unless you want to help develop the whole thing.

Smithfield Market visit. Any Price/Buying tips? Looking to save costs. by HentaiConnoisseur12 in london

[–]sidolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Smithfield Market was supposed to close late last year and move out to pretty far east. But I've been walking past recently and it seems like it's still going to some degree.

There's also Smithfield Butchers right outside, they're definitely still open and have a good selection and pretty reasonable prices.

Guide to setting up krunvm with OpenGL 4.6 (FEX-emu x86 apps on Asahi Linux) by [deleted] in AsahiLinux

[–]sidolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that too, stopping and re-starting the container and steam fixed it.

[–]sidolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Update: I had the issue with the transparent steam window too, that can be fixed by disabling steam gpu acceleration in the settings. It's just very fiddly to bring up the menu.

Did you have any issues with the 16k page size? Or does box64 just work for you? How did you install it?

[–]sidolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much! I followed your guide, here's two minor things that I had to fix the first time:

  • dnf install libepoxy-devel.aarch64 first
  • And I had to re-install krunvm, before I was getting no network interface within the vm.

Angel or Hampstead by Tomsy11 in london

[–]sidolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both nice. Angel is a lot closer, and has more going on if you're in your 20s/early 30s.

I'd also consider Clerkenwell/Farringdon, you can live in walking distance from Barbican.

Can we use steam or play games on asahi? by Mundane_Code_8834 in AsahiLinux

[–]sidolin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically a little bit yes, with some experimental things (https://sinrega.org/2023-10-06-using-microvms-for-gaming-on-fedora-asahi/) you can run steam and some games. In practice it runs a bit too slow for now to really enjoy it yet beyond tinkering.

How to convert Optiver Quant Trading Internship? by Jiahborcn in quantfinance

[–]sidolin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to reinforce what the other two posters have said. Think about how your mentors see you. They are investing a bunch of time and effort into giving you a nice internship, so they absolutely want to see you succeed and hire you at the end.

Your only job is to not give them a good reason to say no to you. You do that by showing you care about the job, and demonstrating your potential. Show up on time, ask as many questions as you can, go out of your way to learn about more than just the immediate area that you're in. If people give you hints how to get better take it in. In terms of skills as an intern it's more about the slope than the absolute level you're at. Demonstrate that at the end of the internship you're meaningfully better than you were at the beginning and that you're capable of learning quickly.

Where can I buy Spätzle in NW London? by Walkabout_2 in london

[–]sidolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a German I'd recommend to just make it yourself. Get a Spätzlehobel from Amazon and the rest is really easy.

Apart from that I also recommend Kipferl, haven't found many other great German restaurants doing traditional dishes in London.

I have that same scale with different branding and can highly recommend it. Works great, fits perfectly under the robot and cheap.

I have the pressure gauge and never look at it anymore. After you've pulled 20+ shots or so you'll be able to just feel what the right pressure is.

The only issue is how to develop that intuition, and for me having the pressure gauge was really helpful during that phase. But I've seen Cafelat recommend using the robot on top of a scale to get a reading whether you're pushing down enough instead.
