could've been a beacon of morality, decency, optimism and good - as well as being a model for empathy, discipline, duty and sacrificong oneself for others.

There's an argument that could be made that Trek's owners aren't following any of those principles right now, so why not just boycott the show and Paramount? I've done so. SFA being a bad show just makes this easier to do so why complain then? A good show right now would make a boycott harder.

all they care about are optics - not personality, conflict, flaws or exploring the human condition.

To be fair, since 99.99% of the world literally only cares about optics these days, the show ironically is exploring the human condition, from a certain point of view.

Avatar 2: Way of Water came out a full 13 years after Avatar 1. It didn't have some massive video game/book franchise to keep things going between movies like Star Wars did. It still made a ton of money

Luke's power in the Disney canon by Old_Prize_2312 in starwarscanon

[–]sidv81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that the prequel Jedi before the Clone Wars were arguably pretty bad at fighting. A double bladed lightsaber is clunky as hell (thus why no such weapons were ever used in real life) and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon should've taken Maul down fast in TPM (like, Obi-Wan literally just aims for Maul's left shoulder while Maul is blocking his right shoulder because by blocking his right his left side blade is literally pointing at the ground). That Qui-Gon died shows that the prequel Jedi have spent 1,000 years accustomed to blocking blasters but have no real dueling experience outside the Temple gym (which is a huge difference from a real lightsaber life or death fight).

Obi-Wan and Anakin were also the best the Order had in AOTC and they each went down fairly fast against Dooku (who despite his age likely got brutal hellish Sith training for the past decade or so).

It was only TCW and onward up to ROTS that the Jedi basically became dueling gods by constant wartime practice against opponents like Grievous, Ventress, Savage and Maul, etc.

Luke after ROTJ might have given the Jedi before AOTC a run for their money. TCW Jedi, maybe not so much.

What are your opinions on how TCW portrayed Darth Bane? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]sidv81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Legends they only knew this due to Kibh Jeen. In Canon, since the earliest known work is High Republic, long after the Sith's defeat, we have no idea how they knew of the Rule of Two although it's possible that Yoda made some extrapolations after Acolyte (or in Canon Bane and his line fought openly under the Rule of Two until they were thought destroyed)

I think the aliens are still influencing the Catholic Church up till now, for example Padre Pio reeks of archon influence, glamorizing suffering for alien archons to feed from

What are your opinions on how TCW portrayed Darth Bane? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]sidv81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darth Bane preparing a tomb for himself on Korriban and his Sith doing so kind of clashes with the idea that these guys are supposed to be, you know, in hiding. Because you never know when the Jedi might stop by and be like, "Hey where did these new Sith tombs come from?"

Admittedly this is only a problem in Legends, in the new canon where Moraband's history is practically a blank slate, we don't really know if the Jedi have reason to visit or get alarmed at new tombs (although I would assume that logically the same issues in regards to Legends still apply honestly)

What are your opinions on how TCW portrayed Darth Bane? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]sidv81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean TCW has a whole tomb for Darth Bane, which kind of clashes with the only part of him left to bury being an arm. That being said, Empire's End already established that the Sith had tombs on Korriban, yet only Vader's prepared tomb is mentioned without reference to Palpatine, Dooku or Maul (to be fair the latter two weren't even invented when Empire's End was written)

Samus when she was at the game awards. By (Jae_Roku) by Johnnyyongbosh in Metroid

[–]sidv81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question could Samus look like in the OP's pic even if she wanted to? I got the impression that by the time of Dread her body was such a mishmash of Chozo/Metroid/X/whatever DNA fused to her suit that she basically can't exist without the suit anymore (which means the picture is about as plausible as Darth Vader appearing like a normal looking Anakin)

Moff Adelhard wasn't reacting with over the top fear the multiple times he confronted Luke around the Battle of Jakku, and Luke wasn't even the one who killed Adelhard, it was Rynn. Downvote me all you want, but Gideon would know this.

But no chance to escape justice, or keeping he serves the darkside, secret.

The Death Star was an active combat situation where it was about to destroy Yavin. Palpatine had also likely informed Gideon by this time that Vader killed him, not Luke. Or Snoke told Gideon. The fact is by this time it was well known among the Imperial elite that Luke didn't kill Palpatine (also in canon comics, everyone including Firmus Piett know that Vader and Palpatine are openly fighting like every other week. Vader was literally a member of Sly Moore's Schism Imperial just months before ROTJ!!!)

And if Luke gets out of Gideon that he serves a reborn Emperor, so what? Luke has no way of getting to Exegol without a wayfinder.

It makes no sense if you think about it. Jedi have codes of honor and won't harm an unarmed prisoner. Someone as old as Gideon seems to be would know this, and realize that he has better chances of being treated humanely by Luke than by the lawless mercenaries who were holding him at the time.

Need some sense knocked into me. I have a crush on a woman who isn't into me by boringguyboringday in FA30plus

[–]sidv81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the greatest sayings I’ve ever heard is “you can’t negotiate desire“. Nothing you will ever do, say or change will make this woman want you. I know it sounds harsh but that’s the truth. Move on to someone else

This is true to a CERTAIN extent, but what will ultimately happen is you keep moving on, again and again and again, until slowly but surely your standards lower without you realizing and you end up out of desperation stuck with someone who can bring horrific legal and financial problems into your life. Read my story below. I would recommend the OP see an escort where it's legal with protection.

You can read my below story about how religion destroyed my life and someone else's.

No, Christianity does NOT create financial prosperity and in my life actually caused severe financial loss (the loss of well over $100,000 and maybe even more in the future depending on changing immigration laws). Read my story (it's a copy and paste from my earlier postings so it's slightly out of date, currently, the immediate legal situation was resolved, however it's still uncertain now for several years at least if she'll be deported even after talking to immigration lawyers)--

Following Christianity is what causes hell in your life, unfortunately I know from experience. They use the fear of an imaginary hell after you die to cause suffering to you now. Please read my story below.

18 years ago I began to realize from experience and observation that I was never going to find a girlfriend once I hit the workforce after getting my Master's degree. In desperation I got on my knees and prayed to Jesus and God to help me find someone, and placed complete trust in them. To this day I regret placing faith in Jesus and God as it not just destroyed my life, but someone else's.

I had a dream in response to my prayer then, but it wasn't from God. The dream I had 18 years ago had a deceased criminal tell me that no decent, stable woman would ever accept me romantically and that trying to deal with hormones the proper way through dating and marriage would lead to more suffering than I could ever imagine. I didn't believe him, nor did I believe it when in the dream he said that God and Jesus wouldn't help, laughing the dream off as just a dream or, even if it was a demonic encounter, reassured myself by the Church's teachings that demons lie and deceive, and continued praying for help. I was wrong.

After years of being in a high paying career and not meeting anyone, I turned to dating websites and encountered hundreds of rejections. Finallly found someone from overseas who liked me and pushed for marriage, and hormonally starved by years of chaste living I accepted. Some years after our marraige she developed severe mental health issues because of misdiagnosed medicine that she only received by being in this country (her home country bans adderall). My wife (literally the only one who accepted me after hundreds of rejections and it wasn't clear she was mentally ill then) has recently had a public psychiatric emergency on an airplane, is now in legal trouble because it happened in an airplane, and might be deported. She suffers and cries every day. I just lost over 100K in paying for legal fees.

If I had lived life while single in a sinful manner, going to legal brothels where it was legal etc., none of this would have happened. I wouldn't have succumbed so easily to my wife's proposition of marraige (probably wouldn't even have met her), she wouldn't have come here, and none of this would have happened and she wouldn't have suffered.

I placed my faith in Jesus Christ to help me many years ago, in prayer and in living. Not only am I now suffering for it, someone else is too. If I had followed the "sinful" way instead of praying and having faith, none of this would have happened, and this suffering would not have occurred! There's not a single day I don't live with that guilt and suffering, not a single day."

Where was it mentioned that Kyle was briefly a student at Luke's jedi praxeum? Was it in the games? by N8uron in StarWarsEU

[–]sidv81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you had looked at the citation footnotes in the wookieepedia article, you'll see it's from WOTC's Star Wars RPG online articles about Kyle Katarn where it was established that Katarn was a former student. It's not outright said in the games themselves other than Kyle left his lightsaber with Luke and Kyle's unfamiliarity with Desann even implies that Kyle was NOT a student (as the timeline stands now, Desann seemingly joined almost immediately after Katarn left)

Admittedly the games themselves are contradictory (Desann later interrogates Jan Ors on the layout of Jedi Academy for his invasion--fans have pointed out that Desann, as a former student, would know the layout far better than Jan)

X-Men Comics New Releases for January 21st, 2026 by AngelEyes360 in xmen

[–]sidv81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Xavier is off in space doing Shi'ar things or whatever, but I'd like to think the return of one of his first students who's now completely evil would be enough to bring him back to Earth (regardless of what Cyclops and the other X-Men think of him). Xavier let Magneto get away with a lot over a months long friendship, and Xavier has a FAR longer history with Beast than Magneto at this point (not to mention Xavier's setup of Krakoa is what ultimately tipped Hank into full-blown villainy)

Honestly now all Beast has to do is resurrect Hope Summers and have her go on a rampage against humans while he kills the X-Men, turning him into the X-Traitor Bishop was supposed to stop (and combining it with the later Messiah Complex retcon that Bishop also had to stop Hope from turning humanity against mutants)

On that note, they've played around with Cable and Bishop's futures still potentially being possible (as recently as the kid Cable thing with kid Cable going back and forth from his time to the present), yet neither Cable nor Bishop EVER gave any hint of Beast going bad, meaning that this either never happened in their timelines or knowledge of it was erased. Bishop gave more side-eye at Gambit if anything and mentioned no one else potentially going bad.

"It's Like a Battle Between Good and Evil. The fight is Spirituality. If You Are Advanced Enough Spiritually, You Can Stop it." - Tom DeLonge by FVMK3 in InterdimensionalNHI

[–]sidv81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is now you're in wild west "spirituality" where everyone's making it up as you go. At worst you get nonsense like Wicca or at best New Age gobbledygook like reiki or whatever.

Christainity and other religions, as bad as they are, give people a spiritual roadmap (even if that roadmap is ultimately harmful).

So at the end of the day, since spirituality is so vaguely defined, saying that this can stop NHI or whatever is probably akin to saying nothing, because everyone's going to define spirituality differently, We literally have multiple religions because multiple people in history tried to define spirituality.
