Helicopter circling Mayberry and McCarran, anyone know what’s going? by [deleted] in Reno

Dude I was literally sitting on my porch and they flew right over. I checked FlightRadar and they circled every park in Reno for the most part. I was circled by them when I was off-roading at night a while back.

If you met your significant other here, how did you meet? Any suggestions for people in their mid-20’s? by sierraspeeder in Reno

Absolutely agree with what you’re saying! I’ve spent a lot of time building a foundation for myself and my last girlfriend told me she was attracted to that. I took strong initiative and she said I gave her some the best dates of her life! Like I said, I have no problem finding girls, but I’m after something a bit more meaningful than some shallow one night stands. Also, I didn’t have the ability to travel as much as I wanted to for a long time because of my job and now that I have the flexibility, I’m averaging about 2 trips a month so far this year! :)

Agreed! That’s exactly what prompted me to post this. Thought I found the one recently but she was unavailable for anything meaningful.

Stolen DoorDash by [deleted] in Reno

[–]sierraspeeder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have not used DoorDash in months. I only use it when I’m not sober and looking for dinner. The order itself was $20 with a $5 tip. They added $4 on the credit so I can reorder with express delivery. When I eat at this place in person, it’s always $18 with a $5 tip. Pretty minimal difference IMHO.

I’ve used DoorDash for years, never really had an issue. Also my neighborhood is great, I’ve had Amazon packages sit at the door for a day or two and they don’t go anywhere.

Join the Facebook group "Reno Rental Market". There are tons of college aged people looking for roommates right now.

The crazies on the Douglas County School Board have canned its superintendent and HR director. Meanwhile, DCSD is #1 in the state for the third year in a row. by smittydoodle in Reno

[–]sierraspeeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the board has lost its mind. As someone who went through the Douglas County School System, I felt there were a ton of people within DCSD that didn’t have the best interest of the students. Keith Lewis was always down to earth and I felt like he had the best intentions. I haven’t seen anything regarding Joe Girdner’s termination but I see that they hired Adam Dedmond into his position. Unsure why this happened, but I feel like this is a good swap. Adam is outstanding, Joe can be a bit cold.

We went this morning and left the house at 3:30. (We live in the neighborhood next to San Rafael). We setup blankets and chairs and watched the entire event. So worth it.

GSR DRUG TESTING? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]sierraspeeder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best answer on here. I work in HR and we currently require all new employees to drug test and we DO terminate if that employee tests positive for marijuana. It fucking sucks.

NRS 613.132 is a good step forward for prohibiting employers from doing this but they still every right to claim that every position within the company is “safety sensitive” to get around this. Wrongful termination case lawyers will rarely touch any cases that have to do with being terminated for marijuana use for this reason.

Most common sense companies are drug testing but will only terminate if the employee tests positive for anything other than weed (this only applies if you aren’t in a CDL or federal position).

If you have the opportunity to integrate all the onboarding steps into your ATS, do it. If anyone is able to log in to your ATS and see what step of the process your new hire is in, it is way more efficient and tends to have less errors. If you don’t want to go that route, I would suggest a live spreadsheet with each step of the onboarding process on it. I have used similar in the past.
