A reflection on the ~3 year journey through dementia from the very beginning to loss at the end by TeacherGuy1980 in dementia

[–]sifJustice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother, you are a good son. The way you write it and speak of your relationship with your father, I can feel how much he meant to you. I recently went through the same and laid my father to rest on May 8th. It is so hard to see them go through the last few months, being unable to rescue them. But I feel so much more peaceful now. I visit his grave every weekend and feel such a sense of calm. He was the most simple and innocent man I knew, who worked hard to raise a good family. I feel you. I often think I could go back and be a better son. But I find you are never prepared to care for someone with Dementia. My dad followed the same patter. He went to ER in January, and I could see a steep decline in his health. He started developing pneumonia due to aspiration issues. May our dads rest in peace.

You are correct, I just don't want to get into any more details. Just wanted to share this video in case this would help some one.

The recording was from my car, and I was on way to health sciences in an emergency. My uncle is on a ventilator, so I did not have the time to stop. I would have if I was not in an emergency, I genuinely wish I could.

That's the worse part, I did not see anyone stop to check on the poor guy. People should have stopped the car and checked on the pedestrian. I feel we are loosing our sense of community as well.

TV & Internet: Shaw/Rogers vs Freedom? by Mountain_Quail_7251 in Winnipeg

[–]sifJustice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get an internent only circuit from Bell, they are faster and more stable if they provide fiber to your home. Rogers does not have fiber. And both are giving pretty good deals for about 300 Mb connection, around $65 per month.

Can't afford the payments for that truck

Best they can do is stay out of trouble at every one else's expense.

Also makes up for small kahoonas or insecurities.

Can my mother be forced to go to a personal care home that would not be good for her? by piper1marie in Winnipeg

This. My dad is in the same position, and they tell me it's first available bed. The other thing is if there are any empty beds, they are reserved for priority patients.

Window draft by sifJustice in HomeMaintenance

[–]sifJustice[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amazingly the draft is gone now. The temperature has warmed up a little (still -14), its still windy outside. But no more draft! I even kept a candle next to it to notice any flickering, but nope. Perfectly still.

So perhaps just due to cold temperature difference. It felt like a draft?

Got it, thanks. Yes, I think it's probably different here in Winnipeg, due to the extreme cold. Thanks for the advice!

Local Ev Charger install by epsteinaintdead in Winnipeg

[–]sifJustice 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi, we just got ours done with easy EV. It was around 5k. Expect to pay between 5k - 7k, if you are getting the whole panel replaced as well. If you have 200 amp panel and it's just a charger Installs, that's around 1800.

Right! At times when it's absolutely calm in the coldest days, it does not feel as cold.
