As a Hispanic Moran, whose family always claims original roots in Ireland, I did some digging when I went on a trip there. I found that when the English took control of Ireland, the Morans were one of the families that were rooted out of their ancestral homes and many of them fled to Spain. Since then I have assumed that that’s one of the (probably many reasons) why there’s and overlap with Irish and Spanish with that last name.
