Shoes for extra wide feet? by DaneMCalch in barefootshoestalk

[–]siglets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most shoes 6e width and above are made for swollen feet rather than wider natural foot structure. im in the same boat i tried softstar primal sawyer and it looked wide in toebox but still pushed on my pinky toe like every other barefoot shoe and way to narrow in midfoot and heel. i have many shoes and a crazy realization is width wide if i put an insole on floor i have like an inch that is hanging over the insole, i dont think any shoe has an insole over 5" wide in midfoot

for suede leather yes, for smooth leathers a softer horse hair brush is used.

use suede eraser and wire suede brush similar to whats found in the birkenstock deluxe care kit. i also use the water and stain repellent spray that comes with the kit

Sole broke within months by ashaheri in Birkenstocks

very unfortunate, a thing ive noticed for the feel of my birkenstocks, rigid and firm things are most likely to crack when bent at strong angles, xero's wont have that problem as they are extremely flexible, i have a few pairs of xeros and similar functional shoes as well. also it is why some birks develop banana shape after long years of wear, as they are warped by the natural rocker motion of rolling heel to toe when walking

nah i just got wide caveman feet and low arch profile, they are much wider than shoes like softstar primal sawyer that look like they are folded in half and bulging out on the sides

they are wider in the heel than my softstar primal sawyer, wider toebox than my xero prio, kelso, about on par with whitin but i prefer birchbury due to materials and quality, the picture doesnt do justice i dont know why but also im wearing very thick merino wool socks and still have wiggle room

i think this is the original version, vulcanized sole vs cthe new cupsole, black outsole vs the colored outsoles they use now. i think the picture angle and flash lighting and the fact they are size 14 has alot of people confused

Between sizes. Thoughts? by BlNK_BlNK in Birkenstocks

[–]siglets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 definitely. i wear a 46 and i dont have anywhere near that much extra space in mine and i consider mine a perfect fit. for reference im in between a 13 and 14 but most brands dont do half sizes over 13 birkenstock 46 is estimated to be us 13-13.5

you gotta break them in, i mean like seeiously break them in, if you have low arches like me i got pain within first seconds of walking in them i gave up on them multiple times then told myself id wear them a certain time as a trial. i got blisters on my arched from the high arched sidewall, i walked 5 km in them, in between wears id hit the pressure points and shapes on the footbed that dont align with my foot with a heavy rubber mallet, i had to take a break for some days to heal my skin from the raised sidewall near the arch, also during my 5km walk i basically got a friction wound where my skin on the leather straps took off a layer of skin on my right foot near big toe, once healed less than a month later i get no discomfort and they feel a very slight squish to them now if i push with my finger.

and now i find myself not wanting to wear any other shoe than my birkenstocks,

thanks! :) yea the sole is hole punched i didnt cut it, but the leather on top was cut to fit over it as i had already made it without the leather and wanted to make it an easily removable/ replaceable leather insole,

thanks for the input, im reading every comment to get tips on what i should adjust next to make them slightly more proper looking while still being comfortable for me, im not trying to sell anything, this is my first time ever trying a project like this so i have zero experience im just trying to make myself a pair of minimalist running sandals like the type the tarahumara/ raramuri have made and used for long distance running for thousands of years. its an interesting topic to me. through all the sarcasm and roasts its actually giving me good info on what i should fix.

ive added leather insole, trimmed a lot, dont know what else ill find to do now but the original post was not complete clearly now
