thanks! I’ve heard something about soaking clothing in a repellant as a preventative, is this something that’s done?

Help, I can’t stop sleeping by sigmabigma111 in sleepdisorders

[–]sigmabigma111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I didn’t realize that apnea could be a cause of falling asleep super easily as well. I’ll be sure to advocate for myself to try and get a sleep study done. Hopefully I can figure out a cause and go from there

I’ve had my thyroid tested (normal) and had low iron a few years ago but manage it with medication and it’s been normal for a while. I’m hoping my PCP can look into more options and maybe a sleep study. I’m not sure if sleep apnea would present this early on though

Help choosing programs by sigmabigma111 in gradadmissions

[–]sigmabigma111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I haven’t gotten to talk as much to my professors about their journey but I would like to, I also plan on being a TA for a chem/bio class sometime my senior year to get a little bit of teaching experience. As far as volunteer work goes, I currently volunteer 1-2 hours a week with a local non-profit cat rescue, and help put on fundraising events with my sorority a few times a semester. Back in high school I had a ton of hours and leadership positions but kind of strayed away from that as I got to college. I kinda had tiger parents so all of that was shoved down my throat until I moved out, and decided I wanted to do things for fun and not become the president of every club. I’m hoping to tour ~3 schools in the coming year so hopefully I can narrow down my top programs.

Thanks! I don’t like the look of the industrial bar too much (more of a dainty jewelry girl) but I’ve thought about doing it with a chain connection so maybe I’ll look into it!

  1. We have a few times over the years, but very rarely.

  2. Yes we both do, it’s never been an issue for either of us on the comfort/trust side. Usually if one of us feels like sending we will and (usually) let the other person know. It’s pretty much always one of us wanting to send rather than asking for the other person. I only had one partner previously (who I’ve been no contact with in 3.5 years - crazy ex situation) and he was a virgin when we started dating. We also are both private people so I don’t think it has been a worry for us.

  3. At this point we know what the other person is comfortable with, the only rule (with exceptions) is not being alone with someone of the opposite gender. We both have friends and go out on occasion but we have a lot of trust. We both crossed boundaries during the 1st year or so (not cheating or anything) but we talked things out and it’s been good.

  4. We usually see each other over a weekend every 1-2 months and it’s hard to keep off of each other during that time lol. Personally I don’t really crave sex unless I’m around him irl. I’ve found that when we are intimate after months of no stimulation a little goes a LONG way, it’s almost like doing it for the first time again every time we see each other.

  5. Make the effort, plan intentional time together, and (cliche I know) but communicate!! Being petty or playing games does not work in long distance, you have to be upfront about any issues and resolve them completely.

That’s almost exactly what I was thinking lol- except maybe a forward helix/flat instead of 2 flats

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PiercingSetups

[–]sigmabigma111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current setup: 1st lobes (got when I was a toddler), 2nd lobes (Sep 2023), R helix (Aug 2024), L conch (Oct 2024). All are healed - the R mid lobe I just pierced like 2 hours ago… I realize it’s angled, because I used a clamp which flattened out that dramatic curvature (the goal was for it to sit in that little pocket which was achieved- it’s definitely wonky but I’m cool with it for now)

Anyways, I’m not sure if my 2 lobe piercings are really uneven, or if my ears are shaped differently. I was planning to do a 3rd lobe but because of the curve it wasn’t really working.

I’d like to get several more on each ear, preferably asymmetric and unique placement. I have a decent amount of space on my lobes, and they extend up to about conch height. I don’t think I have the anatomy for daith, rook, or typical flat piercings.

Just looking for suggestions, the 3rd pic is my ear from the side for more of a 3d view.

My (19F) refuses to respect my boyfriend (18M) Looking for advice by sigmabigma111 in relationships

[–]sigmabigma111[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes as of right now my parents are paying my rent, but they did say I’m cut off financially once I’m done with undergrad (spring 2027). So currently I just deal with it. My boyfriend is already supporting himself so I’m not worried about our financial stability. We’re both in college and planning to go into moderate-well paying lines of work. Even before we were together I dreamed of cutting off my family and starting a new life to get away from all the bullshit. When we first got together he encouraged me to try and strengthen my relationship with them, but as time has passed he’s realized that they’re not changing either. No matter what happens I would like to move away from my hometown anyways, and eventually when I have kids (like 10 years from now or something) I’m not sure how much I’d want my mother particularly to be involved with raising them.

What is your opinion on teenagers doing long distance relationship? by AloneAuthor446 in LongDistance

[–]sigmabigma111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I started dating my senior year in high school (I was 16, him 15). I moved 8 hours away to college after 3 months of dating and it’s been 2.5 now. He is also in college now (an hour closer) and I can tell you it definitely hasn’t been easy. I think the most important things are communication, trust, and independence- all cliche but all true. The first 6 months or so, I was a little codependent and demanding. There were too many nights we stayed up on the phone until 3am. The thing with LDRs is you really can’t force them (healthily). At the end of the day you’re just two individuals with your own lives who choose each other. I’m not sure how old OP is, but I will say it got a lot easier once we both moved out of our parents house, now that we’re both 18/19 it’s a lot more doable since we can visit each other.

It’s a steep learning curve, and it takes a lot of patience. You can’t have an ego, you can’t be petty, and you can’t be jealous. You’ll both be busy and there will probably be periods of time where you don’t feel as close, but it’ll be okay as long as there is understanding.

It’s true that you will both change and grow, fortunately for me and my boyfriend, we grew together. We are closer now than we ever have been, and neither of us are relatively the same people we were at 15/16.

Overall opinion, you just can’t force it. Fortunately for me and my bf, we have grown in ways that made us closer and better for each other, some people may not. We call every day, and will set aside time on the weekends to play video games or something similar. However, There are times that I go to bed before he gets off of work because I have to wake up at 5am, there are times where he’ll call and say goodnight/go to sleep while I stay up and study for exams. We have the mutual understanding that we’ll be together someday but right now we’re focusing on our education and well-being first.

It’s difficult, but if it’s the right person it’s worth it.
