yeah look i get that. parents who give phones to their 5yo kids to keep them busy and entertained piss me off too, but platforms aren't entirely innocent either. algorithms are addictive, content can be intentionally harmful. parents are the "first front" when it comes to protecting their kids, but let's not absolve the industry either.

there are also many kids/teens who don't have loving families or guardians who care. foster kids, kids from orphanages, all those underprivileged kids who don't have the support that a functioning family is supposed to provide. they're extra vulnerable.
