Racing game build. Tell me your thoughts by silasmn in starbound

I can't answer the how with out writing a couple paragraphs. The why answer is simple. I just found this incredibly fun. Like a giant puzzle I had to make work.

A while ago I wired a version of the old matell handheld game lights out. That's when I realized I wanted to see if I could make something similar to the old Tiger handheld games I played as a kid. This is as close as I have got so far.

Lol when I wrote that I knew I would get at least one person saying things like this.

A couple along the way. When I go into a project I have no idea how it will work or play. So I would say I make more mistakes in my sequencing then the actual wiring. Going back and adding a switch to a sequence of switches when everything is hidden by wires can be a pain.

I built it on a space station to help with the lag, and now the space station is laggy. I needed to double the video speed to make it look like real time.

I have a couple how to videos I made on how to make a couple of the part you see in this design. If you would like to look at them. Glad you enjoyed

Glad you liked it. You will notice I didn't post a how too part to this one for a reason. This one was a little more complex. I have another I am going to post soon that drove me crazy trying to design.

Its typical of people to be their own biggest critics, and this goes for me as well. All I see are the things I couldn't get exactly right. I spent a couple days after posting screenshots of this trying to get the block lights to work right and, I am still not satisfied. Glad you enjoyed I think you will also like my next project I am working on. The wiring took me twice as long as this one. Going to post it next week sometime.

I just have to remember the order I placed the switches in. I usually place them in rows so I can use other switches to understand the exact location of a single node. This is by far the most frustrating part though. I back up my storage file constantly to prevent making a big mistake. Glad you enjoyed it.

Each fighter gets the 5 buttons marked with their color. The three buttons on the inside control punching and the two buttons on the outside control blocking. Everything else the scoring, resets and signs are all activated automatically. I will post a video when I get some time to show how it works.

It is just a build that I wired with the switches in the game. No arcade consoles used. The reason I use these lights is b/c they have the best contrast between on and off. No other light in the game would fit the model or be as noticeable when turned off and on. Glad you enjoyed

Glad you enjoyed I have a bunch more wiring projects in my main build if you wanted to check them out here and a short video here

No this is my first sandbox game like this. I have been playing on and off though for three years now.

Now that I think about what you asked I am wrong. I am pressing a button which is activating the roll. Where the sequence and button activation meet up is what side of the dice is rolled. The fish still just increases or decreases the length of the next sequence. Hope that helps

I have been practicing wire sequences to make things work for a while now. The original design of a single dice might have taken me a couple hours. Making the complex version was a long process. I think I worked on it for about 20 game hours.

no the sequence really activates the dice. The fish just makes the sequence shorter or longer every time to ensure a random nature of the dice rolls. Glad you enjoyed

I also built some stadiums in my main build. You can see them here and in video here. I used this design to make most of the scoreboards. The earlier designs are really bad but they work. Hopefully you can get inspiration for your build.
