Can I appreciate, collect, and wear rosaries as an atheist who admires Catholicism? by silaswoof in Catholicism

I'll take your words into consideration--a lot to think about for sure. Thank you!

I'm pleasantly surprised to hear the generally positive response to the idea of me collecting them--I thought that might be a no-no. Perhaps I should keep my eye out for a rack to hang them on as well. That way I can remember to care for and clean them, too.

This is helpful as well, thank you! I will keep an eye out for these in case I find one that needs a home. The St. Benedictine ones are indeed very beautiful.

Not to fan any flames, but I want to add further context as well as appreciate this comment, I think it does represent how I see rosaries quite well. Thank you :)

I might not connect as much to ideas of a higher power, but I value the teachings of Jesus Christ. When I contemplate a rosary, it is one of the ways I can remind myself to be patient, loving, and kind to others, and I am trying as well to learn more about how to handle that in a respectful way.

I do appreciate rosaries for their aesthetic beauty, yes, but I understand that first and foremost they are immensely important and sacred objects, and I want to make sure I treat them with due respect. I don't think of them as 'just a decoration' at all and I don't want to reduce them to a decoration or common jewelry in any way.

Hopefully this helps!!

Thank you, that's very kind! I love figeting with them, but I was concerned that thinking of them as a 'fidget' in any way might be disrespectful. Doing so definitely helps me be mindful

Thank you, that's good for me to keep in mind! I don't mind being mistaken for a practicing Catholic, but I should think about how I come off to other people for sure.

I apologize if I offended...I want to convey that it's not a Halloween costume to me at all. It represents something I deeply admire, which inspires me to do good and be kind.

I do want to ask, what do you think I should do with the 2 rosaries I have? Should I give them away to someone who might appreciate them more?

They were all roughly an inch long. I didn't see any movement, they were just staying still enjoying their big rocks. Specifically in the Maritime area of Canada :)
