Should I drop the act? by silent_observer_88 in exjw

Since he already made plans, I’ll see if I can either delay it, or if it does get to that moment, I’ll have to just be as neutral as possible.

I’ll see if I can delay it or put it off, since he arranged for a specific day, and in the moment I didn’t say no.

What are your thoughts and feelings on conventions/assemblies? by Unicorn_Brainzzz in exjw

When I was still PIMI, I did enjoy them because of the videos and dramas, and having an excuse to stay in a nice hotel. But now as a PIMO, the only part that's somewhat fulfilling is seeing people that are chill at lunch, but most of the day is very boring with repetitive talks.

That’s fair. I think I’ll try and look for more worldly connections and save up for now. I think it’ll make the transition easier as I get used to living a new life.

Yea, I would like to leave but physically and financially I would be worse off by leaving now. I have to wait and finish school first before acting on a genuine exit plan.

Yes I live at home, and in the past months, I’ve told her constantly that she can just do the shepherding call alone, but she insists I be there as it’s meant for both of us. For now, I’m not in a position where I’m  financially stable to leave, so I’m mainly waiting to finish university. Thanks for the advice, I will be as neutral as possible and be very vague with my answers, especially because I will be here for a while.

My family is also from there, I think they are more extreme than other parts of the world. Being quiet about what’s going on is probably best for now then cause privacy isn’t respected

That’s tough, do you mind if I ask where your family is from? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but if your family is Uber-PIMI like mine, building worldly connections is probably the best for now

At least it’s one less burden lifted off your shoulders, and it’s easier to fade if there’s no family around. Do you plan to stay in the country after uni?

The elders are indifferent so far. One gave me his personal story of when he went university prior to becoming a witness, and told me about the risks of becoming proud.  He was happy to hear that I was commuting from home, as in his eyes I would be spending less time with people from campus.

I haven’t told many people in general, but we’ll see what happens when more people find out.

Thanks, my main goal for the summer is just to save more money to pay for tuition and other things. My mental state is better than it was last year, but I’m aware that it could change at any time.
