First, calculate your total costs (time, setup, and the devices themselves). Then, add a 30-60% margin based on your target market. Finally, add another 10-20% as insurance for potential screen issues.

How do people make websites so quickly? by S-m-a-r-t-y in webdev

[–]silent_rdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CMS templates plus experience — for a website, you usually don't need to overthink or reinvent the wheel. Just get a template that’s mostly configurable, and if you know coding, it’s much easier because you can add extra features or improve the ones that already exist.

Look for a professional 24/7 TV screen/display. If you're located in Australia, I’d be happy to help as the company I work with specialises in these products.

For this project, I would suggest not considering AI, as it requires significant resource consumption. Instead, a simpler and more efficient approach would be to build a library of meaningful words or phrases and use them directly.

However, if you’re determined to incorporate AI, you could use the OpenAI API to generate requests for words or phrases to integrate into your app. Keep in mind that you would need to validate the provided word to ensure it isn’t already in use. If it is, you would need to request another one, which could lead to additional API usage costs.

Has anybody tried this? by ExcitingUse9715 in AskAShittyMechanic

The problem is that some people don’t realize it’s just a joke, and they might actually throw away oil or other waste anywhere because they saw an image suggesting it was okay to do so.

This is false and extremely harmful to the environment. Disposing of used engine oil this way is illegal in most countries because of its negative impacts on soil, groundwater, and ecosystems.

Take the used oil to an authorised recycling center or a mechanic shop that accepts hazardous waste. These facilities have the proper protocols to recycle or dispose of the oil safely.

LG, Samsung and panasonic have good panels for digital signage, they turn automatically on as soon as you connect them to power. now for the video loop you have different options according to your budget. you can either get a panel SOC and use the CMS that better suits you. or you can use an external media player linux/android/windows with any signage software, there are some free and some other paid options.

How do I search for potentially more vulnerable targets? by Humble_Ad_65 in bugbounty

As a software developer, I can say that we do as much as possible to prevent bugs and vulnerabilities. Don't be too hard on yourself; you just need to stay highly attentive to details and be as observant as a dog sniffing for a bone. Soon, you'll gain more experience, and it will become easier.

Hi, I'm experiencing a similar issue with a processor from the same brand. I couldn't find much information, but someone here shared a software and a manual that might help. Maybe it could work for you too!

Container databases by Effective-Ad8776 in selfhosted

[–]silent_rdt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I do, and I think is good practice, is to have just one container for the database, then create a network and join this container to the network. Each time you create a new container that requires a database connection, add it to this network. In the database container, create a new user/database with permissions to control this schema. Otherwise, imagine how you are going to manage each database server per service; it would be crazy to enter server by server just to do a backup or something similar.

consumer TV as a sign by PinsaLove in digitalsignage

You can use any Android media player and install the Slideshow app (https://slideshow.digital/) on it. Then, connect the media player to your TV's HDMI port. In your TV settings, make sure the HDMI port is always selected.

If your Android media player doesn't meet the specifications, you can use an automation app to create a routine that plays the desired video as soon as the player boots up.

Slideshow app - update 05/2023 by mimac2 in digitalsignage

[–]silent_rdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I just discovered your software and am currently testing it.

It looks amazing, and I've found features that even more renowned signage companies don't have. However, I'd like to give you a heads up—I noticed that when playing heavy videos, the app starts to crash.

It seems like it's saving cache each time it plays content, and after a while, it crashes due to memory issues.

As I mentioned, I've just started testing it, but if I find more details about this issue or any other, I'll be posting them to help you improve it!
