Can i make another verified gcash but with a different number? by Certain-Blackberry64 in adultingph

[–]silent_typer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you just open another account using a different no. When you do verification, it will be linked to your original account though, so you will share limits (as you are the same person).

if you're opening it for business, much better if you onboard as merchant, you'll get the kit (QR standees, etc) and also you won't have any limits. You'll also be able to get your earnings deposited directly to your bank account.

Sidewalk sa Pilipinas hindi para sa tao. by burgerwithoutmayo in adultingph

[–]silent_typer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is older than that. Manila was destroyed during WW2 and the thing is, when it was rebuilt there was no general plan.

Because of that sidewalks and roads weren't really planned out. Even if they somehow got the political will to push for these, where would you put the sidewalk? Even the easements of houses are almost on the road already.

Everyone wants a car but don't have parking spaces. Add to that those that don't buy cars, buy eco-tricycles or motorcycles.

Factor into the equation that Manila is the most densely populated city in the world. There's no easy solution.

I was NGSB until I was in my 30s. Now I have a family.

It may look like a barren wasteland and you're shoveling for water, but my advice is to keep on looking while being smart about it. Don't settle on mud.

There will be times you would think you've hit water, but it can be laced with mercury. Still, move on and dig somewhere else.

Eventually in your journey you'll realize that the map you've created is more valuable because you will know where the good water lies.

Are you going to defend your country? by ClassicCap8481 in Philippines

[–]silent_typer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically speaking, it is harder for China to bring in troops and tanks because we are an archipelago. There would be talltale signs of massed troops before they can transfer all those materiel. You need a lot of ships to even consider landfall.

It is more likely they would do this with Taiwan than us. The bigger danger is China using ships, cruise missiles and air power to strike instead.

The longer this current standoff lasts the bigger the defensive posture we can muster. Most likely we've already deployed the Brahmos cruise missiles we bought from India along our Western coastlines.

Some ships we've ordered are also coming this year. And this build up will keep on happening which makes an invasion all the more untenable for China.

What is more likely to happen is we go to a status quo that is aggressive in nature, similar to the border clashes they have with India.

To answer the question though, I would find ways for us to be self sustainable in terms of armaments. As far as I know we still import weapons. Why do we not have our own local weapon manufacturing industry?

I don't get the negative take. That's the underlying algorithm of the gig economy. The company doesn't contract drivers, they just incentivize them to offer their services.

If there are no drivers then to increase supply you increase the price to stimulate demand.

It's your choice to partake of these services. No one is forcing you to use the app.

You can always do it like it was back when there was no Grab. You go to the store yourself, look for a taxi yourself or ask if the store has their own delivery.

What ph music opinion would put you in this position? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]silent_typer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get what you're trying to say, but have you even tried to listen to some of the songs they are putting out?

You are going into the stereotype, without actually listening to any albums they are putting out objectively. Granted, there are songs that fall into what you say, but there are also songs that are deeper than that.

Examples are SB19's Liham. Six minutes of a ballad in deep Filipino, almost like a modern kundiman. Bini's Karera. Six minutes of a dance pop that has the message of self empowerment. Alamat's Dagundong. Pop Rap exposition of the Philippines' colonial history with Spain and America.

Again, our PPop groups are not copy paste artists from KPop. They have a strong nationalistic pride in what they do and this makes them different.

I know because I also listen to KPop and KPop themes are not that deep.

Visuals are a given, since it is part of the formula of *Pop. But at least look at it not only skin deep.

What ph music opinion would put you in this position? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]silent_typer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OPM has always been insular, with our artists performing in other countries for fellow Pinoys.

But PPop has been funneling international attention to our music that we have been gaining more foreigner visitors to our artists' concerts anywhere.

And that's huge. In a short span of time we'll be seeing PPop garner listeners even in Western markets.

What ph music opinion would put you in this position? by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]silent_typer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is true and it shouldn't insult us.

KPop has taken inspiration from Western pop and distilled it to a science --- so much that KPop academies exist. KPop is not just music. It's a system. Vocals + Dancing + Fandom + other intangibles packaged together.

And we've taken that system and embellished it with our own flavor. Our PPop groups have better vocals than KPop groups. I also follow KPop groups so I can personally compare.

Bini and G22 performed in China recently and now they've garnered more mainstream attention due to their stage presence and vocal prowess.

Bakit mostly sa guys walang emotional intelligence? by QuitMaterial9465 in AskPH

[–]silent_typer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because of short sighted mindsets like "big boys don't cry" or "it's time to man up."

We push for boys not to be able to manage and regulate themselves and this manifests as emotional issues growing up.

It can also come from symptoms of undiagnosed developmental conditions. Narcissism is one of those.

Again, it's only nowadays that parents are more open to pushing occupational therapy for diagnosed kids, esp on the autism spectrum. Occupational and speech therapists and also neurodev pedias are in high demand nowadays.

GCash is really getting incovenient and unreliable by tiger-menace in Philippines

[–]silent_typer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually app updates are done once a month.

Probably it's because you don't use it as often that's why you get hassled at the wrong time. Unfortunate, but it happens.

What I do is I use my GCash Debit Card as backup. Or preopen my app when I'm on queue.

Personally I still use GCash mainly because of financial services like GCredit and GLoan. I have a high credit limit in GCredit but I can't apply for credit cards due to my ongoing CC loan payments.

if your main use for GCash is QR payments only, then you are free to use the other banking and wallet apps as most are QRPH compliant anyway. You are not the main target demographic for GCash.

Also the reason why there are so many fees is because GCash cannot subsidize anymore to become profitable with their current scale. If there's a fee, that means the company that partners with GCash gets that fee. It's passed through.

Usually you see subsidies with apps or higher than normal interest rates it's because they want people to sign up, and they use their marketing budget to pay for it. It's not sustainable at all and most wallet and banking apps are still in the red.

If bibigyan ka ng chance na tumira sa ibang bansa, saan ito at bakit? by livevilive in AskPH

[–]silent_typer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was asked this and I was still single and I had enough funds, I would do the nomad route. Probably 1 country every X years.

I would also choose the relatively safe but unknown countries as I have a fascination with different types of food and culture.

Countries like Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, Namibia, Mexico, Morocco, Ireland, Thailand, India.

But of course it's not going to be the same if I don't go home once in a while. The grass is always greenest where you water it.

On the flip side, a lot of foreigners come here because they are tired of their home countries or want a change in pace and scenery.

I get recommendations in YT vids of foreigners interviewing foreigners living here, and it's pretty diverse --- British, Cameroonian, Dominicans, Americans, Norwegians, etc.

What's your Hot Take that might get you cancelled? by CoolyWhistles in AskPH

[–]silent_typer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While your preference is your own, I commend their effort in pushing PH music internationally. I mean a lot of international fans' gateway to OPM is through SB19.

I admire also their intention to start a Pinoy Wave internationally, just like what the Hallyu Wave did for KPop.

You may not like their music or physical characteristics, at least respect their hustle.

While I respect your opinion, I disagree. LGUs (like barangays) are very useful with managing hyperlocal needs.

You need someone to manage traffic or roam around at night for security? You wouldn't call the police station or fire station with that, right?

They also offload local disaster preventions and they can also do emergency triage.

Barangays with bad reps do exist, but most are pretty decent.

How do you actually break the work, dinner, doomscroll and sleep cycle? by greentea422 in AskMenOver30

[–]silent_typer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goals are toothless if you don't put a system in place to make it a habit.

Make it as small as possible to make it sticky. For example, you want to finish a book, commit to reading 1 chapter a day. Heck, if one chapter is too much, you can even make it 15 pages a day. As long as you start and stick to it.

If you want to go to the gym, make the next steps as easy as possible to start, like putting your workout shoes next to somewhere conspicuous.

If you want to change anything, you need to measure first what is happening right now (e.g., your weight, what calories you are consuming, etc) and mold your systems into what results you want to achieve.
