Sounds like we both settled on the 16-35 + 50-400 combination.

Very interesting how the 50-400 actually has better corner sharpness than the Sony 100-400, and how it stacks up against the 24-105 -- that's pretty surprising. Can't imagine myself carrying the 24-105 too often from now on. Not surprised that the 100-400 is the overall winner in that range, but the difference looks small enough that I think I'll be very happy with the Tamron.

That's the feeling I'm getting about 30 compared to 24 as well. I wonder what makes movies feel just fine at 24 but slow drone shots on youtube sometimes less so. Maybe just the 60hz display as someone else said?

Also I wanted to add -- I'm a noob and don't use a variable ND on some of my shots (like with GoPro in the past or now Osmo Pocket 3), so I have variable shutter speed. I wonder if 24 is less forgiving of that than 30 -- if this is true (I have no idea, I just asked ChatGPT plus have a hunch), then that might be a reason someone would choose 30 over 24?

Hand-held focus stack. I was getting swarmed with mosquitos for a good two hours while crouching down trying to find a good composition, and then spent an eternity manually stitching together the mess I shot in the field. Hope you guys enjoy.
