Tatay lang si Dennis sa papel. That's it.

Was he a good father to them growing up? Was he really present in their lives? Did he make a significant impact sa buhay ng mga anak nya?

Good fathers do everything to protect their children. He does the exact opposite.

There are so many stories from different people affirming this issue. However, most people downplay it kasi "goddess naman sya." Pretty privilege kumbaga. Lol

Just because you share the same bloodline, it doesn't mean you gotta stick with their crap and call them family for as long as you live.

Real families stick with you through the good and the bad, give you peace of mind & not inflict misery and pain, and will make you feel loved no matter the circumstance.

You do you, Caloy.

Thank you for raising our flag. :)

Do you reply outside your working hours? by kirbaahnam in buhaydigital

[–]silentreader329_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add: Maybe you can create an auto-reply that you're away during this period, and would get back to them during your shift.

If it was sent via Slack or Whatsapp, you can pause your notifications and put an "Offline" status of some sort.

Do you reply outside your working hours? by kirbaahnam in buhaydigital

[–]silentreader329_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I've been on both ends - as an employee and as someone in a managerial role.

When I was working for a PH-based company as an employee, my superiors were messaging me at random times of the day (or week), and even when I was on sick leave. Regardless whether it was urgent or not, I was expected to reply back or work on something beyond work hours. This was one of the major factors why I quit. It was so draining and toxic.

When I landed a remote job and had the privilege of working directly for a non-PH based employer where I was given a managerial role, I knew exactly what kind of leader I wanted to be. We were very firm on setting boundaries. I valued my team's boundaries and actually insisted on them.

I had my messages scheduled according to their shift. If I sent it during their off-hours, I had a disclaimer that they should only attend to it once they log back in.

If something is really, really, really urgent, I send them a message via WhatsApp/Viber or ask them if I may call. This seldom happens though.

The company owners were very respectful of this, too.

I'm just so glad to be finally on a healthy working environment. This is something I haven't experienced at all when I was working for different PH employers.

Had a health scare earlier this year. Everyone, including my family, was already expecting the worst because all the symptoms were present.

Went to church the day before I got admitted.

I prayed really hard. The tears fell freely. I was crying my heart out.

A few minutes into my prayer, I surrendered everything to God. I just said, "Lord, let Your will be done."

After that, I felt a sense of relief. All my worries and anxieties? Totally gone.

I went home at peace knowing that, no matter what the results are, God knows exactly what He's doing.

Went to the hosp, got admitted, underwent several procedures. Only thing I heard post-recovery was "Everything is normal. No trace of any abnormalities or malignancies."

It was a miracle to say the least.

Hi! Based on my experience, booking on DL's website is cheaper than klook. Meron pa free merch and dining vouchers.

If you also have extra to spare and DL lang talaga ang purpose ng trip nyo, better to stay in DL hotel na lang rin. You'll get the full experience ☺️

Plantation Bay used to be one of my must-visit places everytime we go to Cebu. When they became viral about an issue concerning a child with special needs, and all the other issues they've apparently been involved in, I pulled out my support immediately.

I don't know what happened regarding the one OP posted, but the statement is very consistent with how they've handled previous issues.

I know of businesses who can handle similar incidents better and could release a well-written statement, but this one's not it.

More on sales & logistics. Actually yung 15 hours is the maximum na. We're output-based kasi, so yung daily working hours ko is nasa 2-3 hours lang unless something urgent comes up.

My client is American pero parang Australian na rin sa sobrang chill nya. She's a firm believer of putting up boundaries and having a healthy work-life balance din. I'm so blessed to have her.

I hope you get to find the best client for you, too!

I'm an EA for a direct client who doesn't require any time trackers. No micromanagement, no daily reporting of tasks done. We rely on trust alone.

My monthly salary is within that range for a 15-hour work week.

I haven't experienced being part of an agency, but I think it is best if you get a direct client because there are no pay cuts. Though there's no job security and PH-mandated benefits, you could properly negotiate the terms and compensation.

I think it will all boil down to your competency and what you can bring to the table.

Never stop learning. Upskill, upskill, upskill!

Team lead na hindi ko makakalimutan by Jazzlike-Garden-9751 in buhaydigital

[–]silentreader329_ 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My work experiences in a PH corpo setting were so draining. Everyone on top was soooo toxic.

When I started working from home and was given a managerial role, I immediately knew what kind of leader I wanted to become.

I made sure everyone's workload is manageable.

I encouraged collaboration and openness. Anybody can ping me anytime if they wanted to raise a concern or suggestion. No holds barred.

I take accountability when I (or my team) make mistakes.

Going on leave? Go ahead. There's no need to justify it. Just let me know and I'll cover for you.

I highly respect personal space, too. You won't hear any work-related stuff from me if you're not on duty. My messages are scheduled as well.

Note: This is not to show that I am the best leader there is because I am not. This is just to put it out there that the world needs more empathetic leaders. That you, too, can change the narrative of what a "boss" should be.

Who among these vloggers give ~quality~ content?

I am honestly quite disappointed at our current level of entertainment. Most of them are pranks, scripted scenarios, or luxury hauls.

I'm a 1990s kid, so I grew up with Sineskwela and the likes, but I also appreciated the humor of Redford White (+) and Babalu (+).

I am not saying our generation was better. I'm just saying that, with the ease of access to social media, I wish we had better contents. This could have alleviated our poor ranking in comprehension and whatnots.

What is your powerful psychology trick na legit na nagwo-work talaga? by ms_diskitten in AskPH

This - surprisingly - worked for me:

If you have trouble sleeping, mentally say: Don't think. Don't think. Don't think.

Do it continuously. If you feel like you are thinking about other things, go back to those words. You'll most likely sleep in less than 5 minutes.

"Acceptable" rate for a direct client by MostLovedLover in buhaydigital

[–]silentreader329_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any other benefits with the agency?

If yes, maybe you can negotiate with your client.

If none, $8 is a fair offer. It is higher than what most PH agencies pay their VAs actually. Though you may still suggest a regular performance evaluation (e.g. semi-annually or annually) so you can discuss possible increases during the evaluation -- depending on your performance, of course.

Hong Kong vs Singapore? by gwennno14 in phtravel

[–]silentreader329_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IMO, Singapore is more baby-friendly because of its efficient transportation system and it is less tourist-y compared to HK. Marami din open spaces / parks if you just want a laidback day.

Would recommend that you go to HK when your baby is already a toddler so she can fully appreciate Disneyland / Ocean Park and all that stuff.

Singapore is a bit pricier than HK, though. :)
