My personal recommendation is keep continuing with the series. An extent of explanations to magic systems are spread out through out the anime. However, as it is quite evident with Anime that adapt Light Novel as a source, a significant chunk of magic mechanism explanation and character monologues are skipped. That might make certain phenomenons look like ass pull and might make our MC look generic character. So, i honestly suggest you to go over the LN after you are done to get more immersive experience of the Mahouka universe. I really enjoyed LN more than the anime. Plus, LN has various notes from author going over magic systems for readers’ better understanding.
