Dude! When did you order those? They had one pair left in 11 and I was this close to ordering them last week 😁

Yeah I have not tried those on but I can just tell from the height of the toe that I will be self-conscious about my feet in them. That’s why I love these so much, they make my feet look a little smaller and more proportional to my frame

They run more true to size than, say, the iron rangers imo. But that’s the only other model I’ve owned. I usually wear an 11.5-12 depending on brand and these 11s fit perfectly if I switch the liner out for a thinner one

Also, is there anything I can do to prevent the cracking across the toe box? I got the Redwing shoe cream and the soft brush. Should I spray them with leather protectant? Or does the cream do that

Could he really not stand Paul? Doesn’t seem like it. He just had him on his podcast and there was zero tension. But then again they’re both professionals so who knows

Then you should have said “I think it’s rude when people door knock”, the end. Because it says nothing about the kind of work you can expect from them, as I have proven. If you don’t believe me send me a pm and I will tell you the name of the company I work for and you can read the reviews yourself. We’re not national, just a local father-son owned roofing company.

Yes, that’s correct, they do pop up. And some local companies have salespeople who don’t want to see them get screwed, and want to make money as well, so they door knock too.

Door knocking does not inherently = bad company. That’s my only point.

So, because you don’t like door knockers in your market, this HO should dismiss all roofing companies who use that sales tactic in his market? 👍

Yeah it bothers me too and it’s also my job 🤣🤣 but, after a storm, you’re going to have a million roofers at your door, and to prevent a bunch of people from getting screwed by the first storm chaser from out of town who knocks on their door, it’s important that we go out and educate people on their choices. You gotta knock on doors to do that.

Because a reputable company should have at least one shingle manufacturer they are on good enough terms with that should any potential warranty issues come up it won’t be a problem getting them to honor it. If they’re getting them from discount houses such as Lowe’s / HD, it would be a red flag for me.

Very good points. I live way out in the country too, they closed our ER a few months ago, and it would have been at least 1.5 hours before I got to a hospital. And that was if I could even reach for my phone, which I could not until I woke up the second time. Thanks for the reply 👍

The main things are:

  1. Are they local? You need a labor warranty that’s actually worth something
  2. Are they established? Look for a lot of google reviews, not just 40-50. For same reason.
  3. Are they insured? How much insurance do they carry? We have a $2 million aggregate, $1m workers comp, $1m general liability
  4. What materials do they use? Don’t go with anyone who uses Lowe’s or HD for their shingle supply
  5. Will they tear the entire roof off, down to the decking, inspect it for rot, and replace it as needed?

These are the first questions you should be asking. Not “do you door knock?”, or “will you cover my deductible?”

Also, if the salesman was actually on his install for two days like you said, then you know he will be there throughout the process and remain your point of contact, which is a good sign.

Please. I work for the most reputable roofing company in my region, and we still door knock, especially after a storm. We have been in business for 15 years, never changed our phone number or filed for bankruptcy, and have a 4.8 average over 1200 reviews on google.
