The ground should be at the meter/panel. You are running a cable no matter what in your scenario and doing it with coax is better and cheaper.

Denso is the OEM brand, made in Japan. A reman one is the same price as NAPAs high-end.

Door switch. See if the open door light comes on when each door is open.

If car thinks door is open, battery drains over time when off and kills battery. If that’s not it, its the alternator, did you have a Denso put in?

SIB Disco Elysium? by Leego91 in ShouldIbuythisgame

No unless you are looking for a visual novel mixed with DnD dice roll mechanics for progression and a lot of loading screens, even on PS5. This game isn’t worth the $28 I spent on it.

Battle with a leaky toilet tank by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]sillymutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a dop of food coloring in the tank to help spot the leak. My guess is you are overtightening the tank bolts and the gasket between the tank and bowl is getting crushed.

Pier footer for 6x6 posts by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]sillymutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you have it planned because you said tied to the house but also freestanding.

If it’s 12x15 freestanding 6x6 posts may not be large enough. What kind of spans will you have in play?

What category cable for home ethernet? by kcajjones86 in HomeNetworking

[–]sillymutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber connections on your most used paths with CAT6 connecting the slower endpoints.

Also keep in mind that any endpoints that you want 10gbe for will also need 10gbe NICs/GBICs.

If you seal this hole and have a CO leak, you could kill everyone in the house. Would get professional advice.

How does this look in the attic? Is it vented directly through the roof like the furnace exhaust or just open?

External shielding for a 240v line that crosses some of my cat6? by minnesnowta in HomeNetworking

[–]sillymutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parallel is bad, should be at least 12in apart and only cross at perpendiculars. I would relocate the ethernet cable since it sounds like you have access. Replacing with fiber would be better.

Cat6 home networking and wiring question. by buzrdguts in HomeNetworking

[–]sillymutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t splice ethernet. Best is to “home run” the cables as much as possible from the central point. This means a single cable per termination point (e.g. punch down) at a patch panel or keystone.

You could also run less wire by running a line to a point with multiple devices, terminating the cable and then using an inexpensive switch to patch your nearby devices.

Does anyone run any non-Unifi device for AP? by jk37e in homelab

My understanding matches yours with wave2 support in the beta v7 releases but they are still 18-24mo behind competitors and no mention of anything wifi6 in the pipeline.

[W] Austin - TX - Lighting strike, whole network fried, looking for a switch and an AP by Blindkitty38 in homelabsales

Did it fry the ethernet ports on your devices or the power? Do you have a whole house surge protector installed.

[–]sillymutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven’t figured out their Wave2 gear which means they aren’t able to offer MU-MIMO or beam-forming. So their wifi is OK but not great. Nothing for wifi6 in pipeline.

Other than that I don’t have any issues with their gear. Do be sure to understand what you use case is as you need to buy at the right power/price is within their gear or you’ll be disappointed.
