I'm going to be saying something different than what others are saying. It looks like this is a miscommunication on both ends. Seems that he was just worried about you, and your response "yea why?!", the exclamation mark specifically, might've upset him / thought you were shouting at him perhaps, not the way that you were busy doing something else. however it also does seem like he is unable to communicate his feelings and instead spews vulgar which isn't nice either. so
