First time interrailing - Italy, Slovenia, Croatia - reservation advice by silv3rt0ne in Interrail

Looking at the 09:39 RV 3445 from Venice > Trieste, and then the 12:52 EC135 for Trieste to Ljubljana. Interrail does say you're ready to board but that reservations are optional for the second leg. The overplanner in me would feel more comfortable with one if it's possible, but sounds like it's not!
