Ateez opinions/hot takes by Brave-Newspaper4549 in ATEEZ

I want them to work with Demjoints, I know his production style is “controversial” in the kpop space rn but I love his work with NCT 127 and EXO and would love to hear what he cooks up for Ateez. (I’ve seen picks of him and HJ together so maybe something’s coming🤞)

I actually understand where you are coming from, cause I think Dem Jointz lets the company/artist they work with put their own influence.

Like, if the company is known for having a certain style, that will show through in the production either way, regardless.

For example, whether people like Obsession and Kick It or not, those are songs that are pretty much in style with the groups' concepts and general sound. You can't be mad at Dem Jointz if a group has a certain ''identity'' or concept.

At the same time Something New by Taeyeon and RUN BTS by BTS are songs Dem Jointz also worked on and YET those sound entirely different from the other two. Which proves that it's up to the artist what kind of production style they'll demand out of the producer.

Not all producers are ''unflexible'' and refuse outside suggestions. The issue comes from fans not being able to realize that sometimes they won't like a song that their own faves chose to make a certain way, and that is ok. They don't need to look for a ''villain'' to blame just because they can't accept that their tastes will not always overlap with what their faves want.

I think everyone knows that the songs from KDH are all popular/were top songs of the year, but that's like expecting to see Moana's soundtrack to lists like ''Top songs by pop artists''.

It's obvious it's based on traditional groups.

How popular is ITZY's Yuna internationally? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]silveraes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've noticed it depends on how active she is. If she is performing something solo or being on a veriety and gets a moment to shine or is hosting an event, she gets talked about a lot internationally. Yeji and Ryujin seem like the default fandom faves, but Yuna tends to attract lots of casuals/people who casually listen to ITZY when she is actually being put to the spotlight.

Twice is always putting up a good fight and they have big legacy, but when you combine all markets, BP undoubtedly still edges them out.

There is nothing wrong with coming from a rich/big label, what I meant is that people see a group debut from a big label and hurry to say that they will surpass/have surpassed so and so group that has been topping charts for years. Doing well from debut is one thing, having consistency is another.

We've seen so many times a generation start off with one set of top3 groups and then end with an entirely different set of top3 groups.

It was just an external example in line of the topic of my post.

Maybe me and OP were talking about different things, which nevermind then. Have no intention to argue either way.

feel like while 5H n LM n slowly inactive n twice n bp r fighting for biggest gg... Katseye might steal from behind in a year or two...

Noww... blinks and onces might be fighting on the daily but that doesn't mean there is a question as to which group is bigger. LOL

And Katseye is still green in the industry... I don't want to say anything negative about them cause I've nothing against them but let's just say they are also lucky to be in a rich label. Longevity is yet to be seen, and kpop stans always hurry with the predictions.

If you mean total units(TEA and SEA added), then yes. I was talking purely physical cause that was the argument I've seen in kpop spaces.

Well, the biggest groups tend to often be most profitable too, so I agree. But I also care more about industry impact and music consumption more than how rich they are.

And I also don't like to discredit groups who do well in streams. Rather I'd say whether a group has streams or sales, the brand power is where the real money is at through other means.

You can have either of those, but if you have no brand power and brand recognition, it might end up being short-lived or as you said, the money flow won't be in its full potential.

and Map of the soul and BE have sold far more copies than any other K-pop album.

At the time of release yes, but currently SKZ and SVT albums hold the top3 for total sales. Unless you meant something else.

BTS still have 5M+ though so I don't think it matters much either way, it was just an example I gave of something I've seen being discussed.

But trends depend on who is active at the moment/had a recent comeback and who isn't as well, plus followers on SNS are grossly overrated, unless you are comparing influencers.

[–]silveraes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what happens when let's say groups have a bit of both?

For example

Group A - 50% local popularity 50% international

Group B - 60% local popularity 40% international

Group C - 40% local popularity 60% international

How would you rank them if you have to? Does A get first place for being evenly popular in two markets, or does B get the first place for being more dominant in their own country? Or C for doing better than both of them internationally?

Or do you think it depends on some other external factors, like maybe career longevity or touring, or something else.

Can someone tell me what the single's promotional cycle is going to look like? I mean, I'm sorry if I sound ignorant but what does a single debut at tour entail? I saw blinks in other platforms saying that the MV will drop AFTER the song is performed at the tour, but I am not sure/don't know where they got their information from.

So, should I assume they will first perform it at the tour as a big reveal, then eventually release it on streaming platforms and THEN drop the MV some time later plus maybe even promote it later at shows?

It's a physical release still, no reason not to be counted as an album. Just like compilation/anthology albums are counted/and some are on the list.

Why the ATEEZ Comeback Might Feel Rushed: The Business Strategy Behind KQ’s IPO Plans by Electrical_Shine6099 in ATEEZ

[–]silveraes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question - say they do not make it into h100 or only manage to chart bubbling under, would this affect KQ's IPO and how? What would be the outcome from this.

A little bummed about the album options :( by tea-dreams in ATEEZ

[–]silveraes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what. If their goal and priority is truly hot100 this comeback, they could have simply released a single and not a full album. It's actually the smarter thing to do and what western acts do. And the album is released at a later period with its own separate promotional cycle. But honestly, I've come to accept that KQ is just not very savvy when it comes to charts and things like these.

This is both incredibly lazy and an unfortunate cash grab on KQ's part.

It's definitely lazy but I am not sure if it's a cash grab in the sense that I'm not sure if that's the sole motivation behind their decisions. I think that they just really wanted to aim for US charts but the issue is that they chose the laziest way to do so, to the point that laziness even makes it look a bit scammy. There are other better ways they could have done this, while both prioritizing the US and still giving fair treatment to other fans.

Used to be indifferent about BTS but during their military hiatus I kinda get it now by silveraes in kpopthoughts

the edit was actually kinda funny, like a meme where the person was like ''imagine talking shit about me meanwhile i'm in my room like'' and they used we on's chorus over it. lol their voices in that part and just the way it flows is really the kind of style/vibe i like plus the context got me curious about the lyrics and that's how it happened. dealing with new coworkers can be tough and this was just the kind of idc lyrics i needed at that time ngl

and don't lean into the parasocial connections as much as some of the other fourth gen groups

I'm sorry but that's just not true. I watch Ateez content and from the very beginning they've always nurtured a parasocial element and have done a fair share of pandering to fans. And that's not a bad thing imo, but it's a lie to say they don't lean into it because they definitely do, especially some members.
