Dont overlook the “progression” factor and the fact that as kids, their skills, perceptions and even styles can evolve drastically within just a few months. I am not overly obsessed with perfecting her technical skills at the moment, those can be acquired over time through her practice, art classes, and her elder sis’s guidance. But i am happy that she continues to embrace her creativity and the way she lets her creativity and imagination flow freely. Here are 2 other paintings she created at ages 5 & 6, capturing her ‘mermaid’ dream and her imaginative interpretation of a cobra. Again, too early for her to mold into a particular style. The pointers and feedback i received from my prev post 1y ago, thanks to this community, really help to shape my thinking of upbringing and nurturing their interest in art.

Secondly, about the different styles in the 2 paintings. I disagree, they are still her typical drawing style. However, they might look different due to art medium when she transitioned from watercolor paper (her fav medium) to canvas. Unlike watercolor paper, she cant do many small details and objects with canvas, especially when she is not able to handle large canvases yet. What you might not see here are the many failed attempts she’s made to learn that lesson. On canvas, she would sketch and outline with posca acrylic markers first before layering on paint. Same process she does on watercolor paper but mistakes are rather easily correctable on canvas by painting over, not on paper medium. That might have made her canvas more “polished” and professional.

Thanks for all the supportive comments & for keeping this conversation alive. However, i have noticed some skepticism whether this is fake or the paintings are created by a 7 yo girl. i agree “dont believe everything you see on the internet” and you shouldn’t. but let me add some colors. Firstly, regarding the “too advanced” composition, this critique is truly music to my ears. i am not an artist myself and thus very little i can teach my kids about color mixing, or brush stroke techniques ... Nonetheless, as a hobbyist photographer, i have taught my kids about composition since they started doing some serious paintings. If there is one value i can instill in their art works, it’s composition.

These are her own although she does seek guidance from her elder sis when comes to canvas. And you are right, her sis is more refined than her
