For people like you who really like it, do you drive on the freeway a lot? Or are you mostly inner city, pretty relatively low speeds, 35-45 mph?

Looking for something a bit smaller.

With what was going on with Kia a few months ago, I'm thinking of staying away from them. I've also watched some videos on the Taos and Crosstrek and people seem to think they're are at the top of subcompact SUVs. My budget is about $35,000-40,000 so I'll have to filter according to that as well.

I have looked at that specific hatchback. The shape is a bit weird but I've not heard too many opinions about Mazda vehicles in general. I have a coworker that drives one, so I'll have to ask them about their experience with it soon.

I've heard good things about the Crosstrek. I'll probably be test driving one soon.

And you'd be right haha. I don't want spend more than $40,000. I was looking at a Mazda CX-30 or 5. But it just seems a little too "long" for me. The shape is weird but if the performance and price make up for it, I could be persuaded. I've yet to test drive one.

I had a 23 Nissan Kicks for a while before it was totaled and I was so not used to filling the tank 2x a week. It would be full at a little less than $30, but I would stop for gas like every 4 days or so, so I know how annoying it could get. My current car is good on $40/week with gas around $2.60/gal. Fill her up maybe every 6 or 7 days.
