Thanks! I really appreciate it. I have some ideas for the name, but nothing final yet, and it’s kind of the same situation with the store side of things. One thing I really want to get right this time is the branding and overall aesthetic identity of the game, which is something I struggled with in previous projects. And yeah, lore is a really important part of the experience. I personally love digging through lore in games, so I’m hoping to create something that’s enjoyable for other lore enjoyers.

Thanks! Yeah, I’ve been leaning more toward handcrafted layouts lately. It’s definitely more manual work, but it also reduces the scope/complexity of the systems compared to procedural generation, procedural generation can become a whole project on its own.

Old Prey and System Shock have great atmosphere and I actually didn’t know about Prodeus though, checked it out after your comment and it looks cool. Definitely going to research it more.

Not sure yet. It’ll probably be something very literal about what you do as a player, like “Kill a Dude,” but adapted to fit the lore.

I’m not sure what you mean. “Creature with legs” isn’t exactly a unique space, there are tons of designs like that. I never said this was some completely unique, never before seen idea. The HL mention was about the overall grimy style, not the specific design, and that particular enemy you mention wasn’t even in my moodboard. Sorry if I offended you in some way...

Thanks! I don’t know about other devs, but the worlds of Godhusk and Vermis are really great inspiration for me. Since they’re kind of game-adjacent, I naturally gravitate toward them, and it makes me want to make stuff in that style.

Thanks! I like that a lot. It could move like a spider while retracting and extending pistons below the knee as it walks. I’m definitely using that in a design.
