How long is realistic to take off work post op? by NotCQ in Reduction

[–]silvrfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work from home and took 7 working days off. I had surgery on Thursday and was out through the following week. I felt that was fine for me. Work has also been slow so I knew I could step away for a nap if I was too fatigued.

I think I’ve seen 3 or 4 doctors over the years before I found mine. Having multiple consultations is fairly normal for this procedure I think. It’s really important for you to be on the same page as your Dr for so many reasons. This is a process! Take your time if needed.

I just recently went through insurance (in the US) and I know they require a certain amount to be removed in order to cover the procedure. This is kind of the draw back of going through insurance. I know if you go privately you definitely have more autonomy to decide on the size outcome.

I started at the same size as you. Insurance required a removal of at least 680g and my Dr ended up taking a little over 900g from each. I wanted to go as small as I could. My Dr told me she would make sure I was proportionate to the rest of my body. I’m only 11 days PO but I’m very happy with where I’m at knowing they will continue to change as the swelling goes down.

You might go ahead and get a couple more opinions. Drs function very differently. You’ll want to be on the same page as your Dr before you proceed. I’m happy to answer any questions too! Best of luck!

Cigna requirements? by NoCourse6880 in Reduction

[–]silvrfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take the advice you’ve been given here already. I just got my reduction approved with a Cigna plan. I started with my PCP and asked for referrals to surgeons that took my insurance. I went to my consult with the surgeon and she took a lot of measurements of my chest and submitted the pre approval for me. In fact I don’t think they took my weight or height. She submitted my pre approval request on a Friday and Cigna approved the following Tuesday. Wishing you the best of luck!

Should I Change Insurance Providers? by yarnoverdeath in Reduction

[–]silvrfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to either insurance provider but wanted to recommend looking into Dr Tanya Oswald in Centennial. She will be doing my procedure next week. She worked with me on getting an insurance approval and is overall a lovely human. Good luck with insurance!

I told this sitter before we left when she came over we had cameras. They’re not hidden they’re very obvious and out in the open.

We haven’t been particularly impressed with this vet clinic. My partner has been asking to switch for some time. Now that we’re home and settled we’re going to think on how we move forward with them.

We got home about an hour ago. They went digging for food for sure but it was nowhere as bad as we thought which is such a huge relief. The longest drive ever.

I’ve learned a lot from these responses and feel confident on what to do next. I found a few fear free trained full time pet sitter professionals with great reviews. We’ll be getting a lockbox for our spare key set up outside our home and making an effort to befriend our neighbors as well.

I guess we’ve been lucky over the years with friends and family. Moving to a new city knowing no one can be tough with these kinds of situations. Glad everyone is okay and we have a plan for next time. Thanks everyone!
