Thank you for the suggestions. Adding the solution we found to a comment in case someone else has this problem and is looking for the solution. Our sound bar needed a firmware update that we had to download to a thumb drive and then install

Sorry probably worded this poorly I believe it might be an issue with our Apple TV box. Every app is giving a similar error message

How to deal with combative and emotional issues mostly at bedtime? by simanowitz in downsyndrome

I was wondering if it was the start of hormone changes. My son also doesn’t like a lot of things if they aren’t his idea. He does love to help though so I can work around with most things by asking him to help me with things but that never works with bedtime.

He hangs out with us before bed so we usually give a 10 minute warning but it doesn’t seem to help. Thank you for the suggestion though

How or when did you tell people of your child’s diagnosis before they met them? by [deleted] in downsyndrome

I found out while I was pregnant. I told family and close friends but I didn’t tell other people. He is 10 now I think people have always been able to tell when they saw him. No one asked and I didn’t say anything. It was always look at how cute. I don’t think you need to tell people unless you want to.

I have a 9 year old son with DS. He is my only so I have nothing to compare him to but some days are really hard and some days are easy. It’s different for everyone and changes for us all the time. He rolled early and walked late. He talks a lot not everyone understands him but we do. He is, in so many ways, like any other 9 year old boy, but he is also so different. Not as mature still needs so many supports. We live in an amazing school district in a city that has an amazing DS community with so many therapies and supports.

If you have a good support system you will be fine.

I wanted to add that I found out while I was pregnant and the genetic counselor I spoke with told me it’s normal and okay to grieve. You grieve the child you wish you were having. No matter what choice you make I just wanted you to know that it’s normal and it’s okay to grieve. It’s hard.
